Texas A&M notifies Big 12 it intends to leave.

Texas A&M has notified the Big 12 that it plans to apply for membership to a new conference, and if accepted, it will end its membership with the Big 12 on June 30, 2012.

they thought they'd be fine at 9 teams. They should add SMU, at the least.

If FSU was willing to come in, the SEC would remain balanced, east and west. Finding four teams would be problematic, I think.
