Arkansas going to the Big 12???

SPRINGDALE, Ark. (AP) -- Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long says the school was approached recently about joining the Big 12.

Long told The Associated Press the Razorbacks are content to remain in the Southeastern Conference.

That information comes in the wake of the SEC's announcement on Wednesday that it will accept Texas A&M as the league's 13th member, if the school can exit the Big 12 without any pending legal issues.

Long says the SEC is prepared to move forward with 13 teams should Texas A&M join the conference. He also expected the Big 12 to approach Arkansas about joining and added that the discussions didn't go very far when the call was made.

I'm not surprised the Big 12 would make the offer, but I'd be shocked if Arkansas had any interest in jumping onto the Titanic.

Latest news now is that the SEC might not offer A&M a slot after all, since the vote to offer was contingent upon the remaining Big 12 schools signing a waiver of their right to sue. Baylor, apparently, may not do that ...
