Fan uses illegal Taser at Jets game

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- A South Carolina man was arrested after allegedly using an illegal Taser in a fight with other fans during the Dallas Cowboys-New York Jets game Sunday night, state police said.

Leroy McKelvey of Moncks Corner, S.C., was charged with three counts of aggravated assault and two weapons counts. The 59-year-old McKelvey was taken to the Bergen County Jail where bail was set at $22,500. It wasn't known if he had retained an attorney.

The website Deadspin posted a cellphone video Monday of the fight.

MetLife Stadium CEO Mark Lamping said no one was seriously hurt in the incident.

1. You have to know better than that.

You don't wear the Dallas jersey in certain stadiums. Especially to a night game. You can do it at a Giants game but not at a Jets game, which is kind of odd but true nonetheless. The fact that he brought a fucking taser with him through 9/11 security suggests that he did know better but chose to live dangerously anyway.

this guy was a friggin idiot on so many levels.

1. Bringing a Taser into a football game, on 9/11 no less.
2. Wearing the opponent's jersey to a Jets home game - Jets fans are almost as bad as Philadelphia Phillies fans are in baseball. Almost.

3. Phillies fans are pretty tame.

Sure you'll get verbally abused and all but nothing worse than you'd get at any stadium if you come in sporting opposite colors. It's the Eagle and Flyer fans you have to watch out for in Philly.

5. That's the incident I was thinking of when I wrote my remark.

I've actually been to a Mets game in Philly before with my wife and son.

Luckily, we weren't harassed too much. Probably because my son was only 2 years old at the time. We were ribbed slightly, but it wasn't too bad. In fact, the family behind us bought my son a youth sized Phillies cap (cause they didn't like the Mets cap he had on).

However, there were a few Mets fans a section over from us who were harassed and sworn at pretty horribly. When they finally decided to verbally fight back, using the same language the Philadelphia fans were using, the Philadelphia fans reported the language to the ushers, and the Mets fans were tossed out of the park for using the foul language.

Assholes.

6. You're going to tar three million plus fans over the actions of one asshole?

The Phillies draw more than three million people to their games a year. This one incident by an asshole who wasn't even from Philly is cause to broad brush the entire fanbase? I think not. That would be like saying all Dodger fans are violent thugs because of the Giants fan they put in a coma on opening day. Or that all Yankee fans are murderers because of the woman who ran down the Red Sox fans in her car. Or that all Rays fans are racist unibombers for one of them threatening to kill the black and Latino players on the Red Sox. It's silly. Disgusting and violent acts take place in every single major league stadium but they only seem to get harped on when they happen here.
