1. I get it...
though I still think the Dolphins played better than expected. Offensively, at least: 488 yards

2. Coaching---pure and simple.
Sparano has had 3 fucking seasons to figure out how to cover tight ends..... and still hasn't figured it out.

Bill B. ran coaching circles around nincompoop Sparano.

What---no answer for the no huddle? Really?

Now with that said----I so can't wait for Brady to retire..... the guy is simply one of the best ever.

8. It wasn't Reggie's fault they lost
The Defense stunk up the joint. This supposed great defense. Reggie was at least catching balls out of the backfield and getting pretty decent runs out of it. Even Chad Henne played better than anyone expected. Israel should just stuff it.

9. What a dumb piece...
anyone who watched the game knows Reggie played pretty damn good. Heck---even your text last night indicated that.

10. Yup.
Just pointing out the insta-outrage of the Miami Herald.

It is a dumb piece.

11. Israel Gutierrez is a Gator moron
Edited on Tue Sep-13-11 03:12 PM by Awsi Dooger
Not surprisingly he found the most simplistic angle with the lowest degree of relevancy. Reggie Bush has fantastic ability but lousy handicapping skills. I always feel somewhat sorry for free agents who put faith in the Dolphins. He could have thrived on a top team with a skilled offensive line on a grass home field, mirroring his USC heyday.

Miami's defense was due for a regression to the mean. The players aren't great so how can you expect another top tier season? I'm always amazed the media likes to project further movement in the same direction instead of natural regression. Same thing in politics. Independents don't stay 65-35 in favor of either side for an extended period. For either side to dominate you have to ignorantly project that margin to continue.

When you rotate toward a finesse offense that further softens the makeup of your team. I've been arguing that for 30 years, dating to the beginning of the Marino era. New England doesn't fully care if they are soft defensively but it's insane for the Dolphins to think they can jettison the fullback position and heavily rely on passing without diminishing the defense. Fragile offenses are not suited to a less than great quarterback. With guys like Manning, Brady and Rodgers you can get away with anything. The offense Miami debuted last night has little to no foundation and will be crushed in the wrong matchup.

Anyway, this was a poor spot for Miami. It reminded me exactly of 2007, when New England had the entire offseason to prepare for an opener at the Jets. That game ended 38-14. The smarter coaching staff and organization already knows your tendencies and personnel. And now they get months to laser focus. Not fair.

BTW, New England's second game in '07 was hosting San Diego. Another rout. But that was the coveted fury of anti revenge angle after the playoff win in San Diego a year earlier. I remember detailing it in this forum, that New England would swarm San Diego from the outset in the rematch. There's no such psychological edge this year. Merely a team built perfectly for the all-pass, no-defense era of Roger Tutu Goodell. I've been worried about New England going unbeaten for months. It's not 16 games. Only a handful of teams have any shot at all. I played New England -4.5 (early line) last night and bet them heavily over the season win/over under of 11.5. Best of luck beating that team 5 times.

12. Just looked at the Pat's schedule...
Pretty soft except for the Jets and Pitt.

Again--- Sparano is an amateur compared to Bill B.

13. Sparano reminds me of Irwin Mainway,
President of Mainway Toys, the company that brought you "Johnny Switchblade: Adventure Punk" and "Bag O' Glass."

Consumer Reporter: Good evening, and welcome to the holiday edition of "Consumer Probe". Our topic tonight is unsafe toys for children. For instance, this little bow and arrow set. Pull the rubber suctions off, and the arrows become deadly missiles.

We have with us tonight, Mr. Irwin Mainway, President of Mainway Toys. Uh, Mr. Mainway, your company manufactures the following so-called harmless playthings: Pretty Peggy Ear-Piercing Set, Mr. Skin-Grafter, General Tron's Secret Police Confession Kit, and Doggie Dentist. And what about this innocent rubber doll, which you market under the name Johnny Switchblade? Press his head, and two sharp knives spring from his arms. Mr. Mainway, I'm afraid this is, by no means, a very safe toy.

Irwin Mainway: Okay, Miss, I wanna correct you, alright. The full name of this product, as it appears in stores all over the county, is Johnny Switchblade: Adventure Punk. I mean, nothing goes wrong.. little girls buy 'em, you know, they play games, they make up stories, nobody gets hurt. I mean, so Barbie takes a knife once in a while, or Ken gets cut. You know, there's no harm in that. I mean, as far as I can see, you know?

Consumer Reporter: Alright. Fine. Fine. Well, we'd like to show you another one of Mr. Mainway's products. It retails for $1.98, and it's called Bag O' Glass. Mr. Mainway, this is simply a bag of jagged, dangerous, glass bits.

Irwin Mainway: Yeah, right, it's you know, it's glass, it's broken glass, you know? It sells very well, as a matter of fact, you know? It's just broken glass, you know?

Consumer Reporter: I don't understand. I mean, children could seriously cut themselves on any one of these pieces!

Irwin Mainway: Yeah, well, look - you know, the average kid, he picks up, you know, broken glass anywhere, you know? The beach, the street, garbage cans, parking lots, all over the place in any big city. We're just packaging what the kids want! I mean, it's a creative toy, you know? If you hold this up, you know, you see colors, every color of the rainbow! I mean, it teaches him about light refraction, you know? Prisms, and that stuff! You know what I mean?

Consumer Reporter: So, you don't feel that this product is dangerous?

Irwin Mainway: No! Look, we put a label on every bag that says, "Kid! Be careful - broken glass!" I mean, we sell a lot of products in the "Bag O'" line.. like Bag O' Glass, Bag O' Nails, Bag O' Bugs, Bag O' Vipers, Bag O' Sulfuric Acid. They're decent toys, you know what I mean?
