I just drove through all of western Maryland. They have those real ugly designs on their sate highway markers. Just like the Terrapins.

I go to the East Broad Top Railroad on Saturday then home on Sunday.

9. There's a big brick barn. You can still see the cannon ball shots...

...but you can't stop yet. Precede east up that lane to a field. You have to take a chance because there's cows all over it. On the left hand side of the lane. Go into that field. You'll see a rock. Shaped like a chair. The Throne of God. It's where McGillvary's battery was stationed
and beat back Barksdale's charge of Mississippians. This is where the battle tilted to the north. Find it, El.

that all the fields are really wet and I didn't pack my hiking boots - just some good Rebocks.

If I had taken your directions I would have found it. I drove on a dirt road full of horse shit to look for it. I've got some pictures of other rocks near the Trostle Farm but not that one. Part of the problem is that the Trostle Farm is not on the driving map and I was lost.

on edit: One Park Guide said that she never heard of "the Throne of God" but she learns something new every day.

You can't possibly do it all in one day. Like Forney Field on the first day. Farmers for years would not venture after dark here. A ton of North Carolinians lost their lives in one volley. Anyway, hope to see more pictures. The aura at Gettysburg is indescribable. You have to witness it for yourself to know.

Left the Battlefield chomping on a cigar. As I recall, his Corps ceased to exist after Gettysburg. Many years later he toured the field with his old foe, James Longstreet.
