Look at who the Yankees put in the field last night
Nothing but their AAA substitutes. No wonder the Rays came back with 8 unanswered runs.

1. I would've done the same thing.
Yankees had already clinched a playoff berth and home field. No need to risk someone getting hurt.

2. Doesn't matter
Scoring 6 runs in an inning is tough no matter who is playing.

The Yanks have no obligation to play their starters once they've clinched.

5. Eliminating the Red Sox meant nothing to them?
If you believe that, then I have some land on the far side of the moon I'd like to sell you.

6. Why shoud they care? The Red Sox were imploding, no reason to think
they would have made it past the first round had they gotten in.

7. I totally agree with you.
If the Yanks had brought Mariano in to close it I would have believed they wanted to win. But since they didn't and since they had a farm team on the field I firmly believe they wanted the Rays to win and they wanted to get some rest.

But it doesn't explain the 7-0 score for most of the game, though.

9. The Yankees goal is to win the World Series.
They're not going to do anything to damage their preparation for that because of any other team.

8. Another curious fact:
The Yankees for the first time in nearly six decades lost a game they’d led by seven runs in the seventh inning or later.

10. OK Tin Foil
Then why the hell did they score 7 in the Rays in the first 6 innings?

What---so it wouldn't look obvious----errrr ---OK.

11. Hey! It was the Rays.
They're so bad, you can't even give them the game until you pull all your starters.

13. They were saving the bullpen
Yankees only cared about one thing -- being ready and rested for the playoffs.

12. Look at who they DIDN'T put in

On behalf of Mom and Republican Stepdad, I have long remained aloof from the Yankee-hatred that permeates this forum -- but this is almost too much to bear. While the all-time saves leader sat in the bullpen playing with his iPhone or whatever, the expansionistas were no doubt reserving a luxury playoff box seat for pRick Scott. :grr:

14. Red Sox fans aren't trying to blame the Yanks for not helping them back into the playoffs.
Are they?
