Favre encourages troops heading to Afghanistan
Brett Favre, former University of Southern Mississippi and National Football League great, paid a visit Tuesday afternoon to more than 500 soldiers of the Ohio Army National Guard at Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center.

..(A)s Favre talked of teamwork, dedication to a goal, team chemistry and working as a unit, some of the lessons of his former profession indeed appeared applicable to those listening.

“It really was motivating,” said Spc. Edward Hughes, holding a football Favre had autographed. “He has a lot of experience with teamwork and team building and I really took it to heart...”

The article doesn't mention whether or not Favre posed for photos with the soliders...

1. Going to talk to a bunch of kids...
isn't nearly as off-putting as attending Glen Beck's "non-political rally" in D.C. last summer.

That's what Tony LaRussa and Albert Pujol's did:

U.S.O.-type appearances should be non-partisan, patriotic, whatever the war. But those
two Cardinals....

They've ruined the Series for me. Really difficult to root for either team now, between
that and The Chimp and Laura's connections with the Rangers, and occupying the front row
seats.
