Week 8.

A recap of the operational rules that have been in place since August… and two changes.

Starting from the beginning of the season, everybody gets two optional bye weeks up through Week 15. You can miss two weeks for whatever reason, though weeks 16 and 17 are mandatory. The idea of the byes is to build in flexibility for work schedules, travel and emergencies -- and in case anyone forgets (thanks again, trumad).

TOP TIER PLAYERS: Play less than 15 weeks and you'll placed in the second tier. Play less than 10 weeks (this is change one) and you'll be dropped altogether.

If you miss week 16 or 17 you'll be dropped to the second tier unless your week total is less than 10. If that happens, adios.

This is change two: Since we've had a request, NEW PLAYERS CAN JOIN THIS WEEK ONLY and will be included in the second tier standings. For all second tier players (including keroro gunsou) the new minimum will be 10 weeks, not 12. If you play less than 10 weeks you'll be dropped (for new players, this means every week for the rest of the season).

We do not play Thursday games. Spreads are posted Thursday morning EXCEPT FOR THANKSGIVING WEEK and CHRISTMAS when they'll be posted on Tuesday to allow for holiday travel. Pushes (ties) will not count in standings. If you need to post your picks before Thursday morning, PM your picks to me in advance of me posting them (if pressed for time you can just tell me you'll take all the favorites, for example). We're using spreads published by http://www.footballlocks.com/nfl_point_spreads.shtml
