20. The Chiefs Too
How did the receiver get behind both guys covering him in a two deep zone with a quarterback they know can't hit a guy unless he's wide open.

The Raiders and Chiefs have to have the dumbest defensive players in the league.

3. He is in good company
This is the first time in Broncos history they have won a game while completing 2 or fewer passes. The only other team in the last 25 years to win a game with 2 or fewer pass completions AND have only one quarterback attempt a pass was the Browns in Week 5 2009 at the Bills. The quarterback was Derek Anderson, who went 2-17. The Browns won the game 6-3. http://scores.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=311113012

5. And they still won the game
And they are in contention for the division title. This may just set NFL football back about forty or fifty years. Thank goodness for the high scoring can't stop anyone Green Bay Packers.

8. In light of this... I'm thinking I might could be the oldest Rookie of the Year in the NFL at 50.
Even with my reconstructed ACLs I can still throw a football 40+ yards in a fairly low trajectory.

Just gimme an offensive line that averages 600 lbs and I'll give it a try... Who knows?

11. OK--look at it this way
Tebow was 2-8 for 69 yards.

He had one 56 yard TD pass.

Subtract that and he was 1-7 for 13 yards---for the fucking game.

But yet we see headline after headline saying that tebow led the Broncos to victory.

14. What I don't understand is how he ended up with a QB rating of 102.6
I always felt like a quarterback rating of 100 would indicate a pretty good performance, but I don't feel like 2/8 was pretty good.

15. Small sample size is Tebow's friend here.
Looking at the QBR calculation, the biggest thing is the ratio of TDs to attempts and INTs to attempts (assuming INTs are above zero; not having an INT in a game looks like a guaranteed 40 QBR contribution). Using QBR on an 8-attempt day is near pointless.

Outside of one pass, I didn't think Tebow's throwing looked all that bad yesterday. My complaint would be that they were running veer option against 9-man fronts on 3rd and 8. Despite my doubts, I want Tebow to succeed cause I always want Broncos players to succeed, but if you can't trust him to throw for a 1st down, that's a problem you can't mitigate.

21. Did you actually watch the game?
If so, tell me what you saw that I missed. What I saw was one completely garbage toss on a short route, and a lot of passes that were on low-percentage routes for good quarterbacks.

What did you see? Oh, you didn't watch the game and are just parroting ESPN talking points. Shocking.

22. Huh?
Seriously---2 completions?

I watched the game at my local sports bar and what I saw was a quarterback who completed just 1 pass for most of the game.

I saw a quarterback with the worse throwing motion in the league---I saw a quarterback who couldn't hit the side of an airplane hanger.

I saw a quarterback who luckily has a good running game and who played against a very bad KC team---a team that got handed it's ass by the Miami Dolphins a week before that.

18. there are four components to QB rating: Comp %, yards/a, TD/a, and int/a
Basically each of those components is worth a minimum of 0 and a maximum of 39.58333.

With one TD in 8 passes, he's maxed out the value for TD/attempt, and with zero interceptions he's maxed out on int/a. With those two maxed out, his QB rating would be close to 80 even if both of his completions had only gone for 1 yard. But since the TD pass was a long one and his attempts were low, he also gets a solid value for yards/attempt.

His completion percentage, of course, was horrible, but with a minimum of 0 and the kick from the other categories it didn't hold him back too much. If he was 2/17 with two 70 yard TD passes, he'd have about the same QB rating, even though 2/17 is obviously not a good day throwing the ball.

QB rating is a suspect stat.
