This is just fantastic. It really is. To be honest, I’d sign up for the official “remove every professional sports team in Florida and make them all college sports” petition. I mean preparing your team for crowd noise….AT YOUR OWN STADIUM? I don’t know if that is more of a joke for the Miami Dolphins or the fans?

David Hyde of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel said that he was preparing an upbeat column about the Miami Dolphins 2011 season when he was interrupted by a sound he had never heard before…it was crowd noise being pumped onto the Dolphins’ practice field. But wait…the Fins play at HOME this Monday night.

Dolphins coach Tony Sparano is so worried about the New England fans packing Sun Life Stadium for the first game of the year so he is preparing his team for the noise they will make.

This makes me ask myself….just why did Sparano come back to the team that basically dropped him off the ledge earlier in the offseason so they could pursue another head coach who SHOCKINGLY didn’t take the Dolphin job?

I guess I really can’t get on the fans too much but ask yourself this, living in Miami would you rather watch a perennial loser or chill on the beach, mojito in hand, topless latinas, and more perico than their is sand….take your pick…..I’ll take the latinas everyday. Can’t wait for the “We Want Orton” chants from all 3,000 Dolphin fans on Monday night, when Chad Henne offers up his 3rd interception to Bill Belichick and his defense.

2. Something I've never understood...why not lower capacity to reach a sellout?

If your team can't fill a 70,000 seat stadium, close the upper bowl and sell 40,000 tickets. For example, the Seattle Sounders FC shares CenturyLink (formerly Qwest)with the Seachickens. NFL capacity is 67,000. But for MLS matches, SSFC tarps off the upper bowl and capacity is about 36,000. SSFC sells out every match.

Why don't other teams that can't fill a huge stadium do the same? Is there an NFL rule that says they can't?

Despite some buzz this week about NFL owners taking up the issue of reducing stadium capacities for the purpose of reaching sellouts, it turns out the issue was not broached at Tuesday's meeting of team owners in Rosemont, Ill.

That means current rules that require NFL teams to sell out "non-premium" seats 72 hours prior to kickoff to avoid local television blackouts will remain in effect -- for now. NFL spokesman Dan Masonson said this week's meeting was dominated by labor-related issues as owners and players attempt to negotiate a collective bargaining agreement, meaning there was not ample opportunity to discuss rule proposals.

League officials have discussed the prospect of allowing teams to reduce stadium capacity through the use of tarps or other means that presumably would cover entire sections and make sellouts easier to achieve. Even if a vote had been taken this week and the measure approved, it's unclear whether this is something that could have been undertaken immediately. Teams have already sold a number of season tickets for seats that fans specifically selected, meaning some would have to be relocated if certain sections were made unavailable.

11. Cardinals had their first blackout

in the game against the Rams for the first time since the new stadium opened. Impressive to me considering they only sold out Cowboy games at Sun Devil stadium and a few others.
