Sanchez v. Tebow: Jets fans or haters please respond
Edited on Wed Dec-07-11 12:15 PM by makhno
OK, so nobody seems to give much of a shit about the Jets around here, and I don't post 'cause you all know way too much more about the game than I do.

A thought's been eating me for the past few weeks, however, wins and losses combined.

I never thought Sanchez was as bad, dumb, or downright useless as ESPN analysts or better-informed yet unpaid posters on various message boards kept on saying.

I know there was a thread about trading your team's QB for Tebow a few days ago and whatnot. But, fuck it, I missed the thread, so I'll ask the Jets fans, if there are any:

Would you take Tebow over Sanchez today?

As I said, I don't know the game well enough to get paid commenting about it or even posting opinions that won't be ridiculed by the regulars here. What I see, however, is a 3rd year, salary cap-busting starting QB offering nothing (which is still more than most teams' QBs propose) but physical toughness with a shit O-line and mental toughness in the two minute drill that results in OT, or, if Folk doesn't fuck something up, might even get enough points to finish what is always a stressful, fucking heart-stopping performance by my boys. Fuck that "any given Sunday" shit, I want my fucking QB helping me with my day off relaxation Brady-style, not turning every single game into a fuck-up contest between him, the O-line, and the (obviously degenerate) O coaching.

All of that said, I'm thinking that everyone's favorite douche QB (in his position; not as a person, as the kid sounds legit even to an "unbeliever" such as myself) would actually work out better for the Jets than Sanch. The D is solid, and what does Tebow do on the offense? Fucking run. Maybe throw a few lucky passes where the three keywords are "luck" and "excellent receivers."

Yes. "Ground and pound," or whatever Ryan's motto was before this season. Fuck passing. Sanchez can't do it well enough for the team to be a perennial contender. Just get us the Christian boy who will not only score a nice pass or two per game with our receiving corps, but a fucking kid who would motivate a team that Rex seems to have (surprisingly) lost.

Alright. So, Jets fans and Sports forum fans, any thoughts? Fuck ... I hate the way the team is playing, I'm beginning to blame the QB or Schotty on shit performances against shittier teams (e.g. Denver).

In short, I'm beginning to see "intangibles." And being an engineer, I hate "intangibles."

1. My goodness, the NYC media would have a field day with St. Timmeh
of course, the Murdoch-owned Post would have him on the back page every day, even during the offseason, with a halo 'Shopped around his helmet. :eyes:

2. Thank you for the first TPD!
Tebow Post of the Day.

I was trying to link something new but all I saw was some Bill Cosby opinion interview.

5. Anytime
My real fear is that I'm catching the "Tebow Fever."

Then again, having to follow NFL games on the web without video due to a shitty travel schedule and Internet connections sure prevents me from forming a sensible opinion about the kid and then getting ridiculed for something I have at least some idea of. :)

... given the current time difference with the U.S., I'll strive to make it my mission to scour international news sources for early mentions of everyone's favorite QB.

4. Imagine the improbable way stars ...
... would have to be aligned to give us Ryan and Newton in the same year? Newton with Plax and Holmes? Total eclipse of the Sun. That's a Jets team I'd fucking love to see. The passing game IQ would be through the roof.

But the question still stands: Sanchez or Tebow right now? For the playoffs and, who knows, that AFC Championship and the shot at the trophy that shall not be spoken of.

I love Sanch. I'd fire Schotty before I'd even have a talk with the QB's agent about reducing his salary or whatever. But, damn, I was listening to some of Tebow's on-field audio from his first start (last year, I believe), and man, his guys respected him even back then. Think of Mason getting cut a few games into the season when he mentioned "issues" or whatever with the Jets offense. Denver seems to gel around Tebow ... I don't hear his receivers talking shit in spite of his pitiful stats.

Would Tebow bring something "intangible" that would make dudes like Plax or Mason or Holmes listen? Motivate the O line? The team?

P.S.: If you have any videos with Newton's interaction with his team, I'd love to see them. Lots of people shat on the guy and his (father's/coaches') shenanigans before the season, but I get the feeling that any franchise looking for a master QB would have loved to pick him up, Luck be damned.

6. Dump the coaches?
Alex Smith isn't the savior in San Francisco, but he IS playing better under new coaching than he has in the past several seasons. Improvements in the O-line and the defense have helped him as well -- football is a team game, after all.
