Boxing: Hasim Rahman vs. Monte Barret.
The fight is taking place this Saturday night on Showtime PPV. It really shouldn't be on PPV, in fact the fight is IMO barely a main event for friday night fights. Anyway, we've got Monte Barret, who is an okay fighter but really isn't top 10 material. He only has this fight because everyone else in front of him has either retired or been shown t o be not good. He show a lot of desire, which is shown by how long he has stuck around in boxing and a great chin.

Next, we have Hasim Rahman. Rahman has shown flashes of greatness in the past, namely by KOing Lennox Lewis with one punch. However, Rahman has shown in the past to come into fights out of shape and with little motivation. A motivated Rahman is very difficult to beat.

In this fight I believe that Rahman will come in shape and will be motivated. I say this because he has been talking alot of smack about Vitali Klitschko and if Rahman loses, then it makes Vitali look good for not fighting Rahman. I feel that Rahman will win by UD. I think he has just too much for Barret.

1. Actually the undercard is where the action is....
http://www.sho.com/site/boxing/event.do?article=503809&event=454082

WBC interim super welterweight champion Alejandro "Terra" Garcia will take on Luca "Bergamo Bomber" Messi; World Boxing Association welterweight titlist Luis Collazo will meet former world champion Miguel Angel Gonzalez; a special heavyweight attraction showcases Andrew "Powerful Pole" Golota against Przemyslaw "Chemek" Saleta in what has been dubbed the "Polish Fight of the Century"; and another special heavyweight attraction pits world top-10 ranked Sergei Liakhovich opposing Owen "What the Heck" Beck.

2. Golota's out, I believe.
He suffered a nasty cut on his eye that required 8 stiches on the inside and 10 stiches on the outside of his eyelid.

3. The undercard
does look more attractive than the usual ones on PPV shows. But it is getting to the point where too many fights are PPV. I think ESPN provides the best boxing programs these days. The "main event" on Saturday doesn't rate higher than most Friday Night Fights, in my book.

I'd also say that Rahman has never, in my opinion, shown anything that should be confused with a "flash of greatness." He was one of two club fighters to expose Lennix Lewis as a flawed fighter. Other than that, his career has been one of unreached potential, lack of discipline, and MIA self-confidence.

4. More crap on the undercard.
Can anyone explain to me how Mayorga and Piccirillo are fighting for the WBC 154-pound belt? Especially Mayorga, who is just coming off of a loss where he got splattered by Trinidad. And the WBC had the nerve to strip Castillejo of the belt. This just proves how much pull Don King has with the WBC.

5. Very true.
I tend to think the Ring champions are the best choices. (Some exceptions, as noted before.)

6. Fight card starts ....
in about 45 minutes. I'm not sure why I paid for this card. I'm home alone, not having the guys over, and need to get up early for a trip out of the area. Maybe this card will help me get to sleep early!

8. A fucking snooze-fest.
That's what this fight could only have been called. I have seen the fight, finally, and I can tell you that the fight was hoplessly boring. The only round that didn't suck was the 12th round. I really never want to see either man fight on PPV again.

9. McCall looked better
than both of them .... including when he was at ringside with Jesse.
