Ha-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-awai'i wins!
http://starbulletin.com/2005/08/16/news/index2.htmlSAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- West Oahu defeated Northwest Ada of Boise, Idaho, 12-1 Monday night to earn a berth in the Little League World Series.
With the victory, the team from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, claimed the Northwest Region championship, becoming the eighth and final U.S. region representative to claim a spot in the 59th World Series for 11 and 12 year olds.
The series, featuring 16 teams from around the world, opens Friday in Williamsport, Pa.Come to think of it, Sterling might not be able to handle calling our games...
Winning pitcher Alaka'l Agipay threw a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts. He had a solo homer, while teammate Myron Enos had a three-run home run."It is high! It is far! It is.... GONE! A home run for Ala... Alaka... A home run for Agi.... and Hawai'i takes a 4-0 lead!" :-)
Bear in mind that the other sports news out here has had to do with golf's Michelle Wie, a relative geezer at 15. Can't our
grownups ever get anything done?
Also note that Repuke Yankee Fan Stepdad has been watching
all these games. I actually heard we were in the finals from him, not the local papers which uncharacteristically forgot to hype it...
