NFL:Broncos to cut Maurice Clarett today
http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/12504997.htm

Maurice Clarett's first stab at the NFL will end the same way his past two seasons on the sideline did: no carries, 0 yards, one big disappointment.

Unable to practice much or play at all during the preseason, Clarett will be released by the Denver Broncos later this week, his agent said Sunday.

''The kid called me and let me know they're going to let him go,'' Steven Feldman said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press.

Clarett's pending release also was reported by ESPN.com on Sunday.

4. poor kid ..... never had a chance
Mom was 14 when she had him he had lived in more then 15 different places
by the time he was 18 .......

I hope Ohio State does the right thing for the kid ....... they used him
Maybe they should offer him an education ...... but I doubt that he is
mature enough to use it.

11. Not Childhood's Fault
His mom having him at 14 did not cause this. He is to blame and maybe Ohio State. His mother did not make him break NCAA rules and regulations. Nor did, as far as I know, his mother make him give up his college career because Ohio State was going to punish him for doing something wrong. I contend that his ego got the best of him. You need to remember that he probably could have gone to other colleges like Southern and played football and graduated. That is what Jim Brown wanted him to do, but he did not do that.

I mention that Ohio State may bare some of the blame for this in that they may have helped to foster the idea that Claurett could get away with anything. So maybe they bare some of the blame, but Claurett's childhood cannot be blamed in that he had already made it. All he had to do was stay in school and not break the rules. Beyond that, once he had broken the rules he just needed to take his punishment and then move on. He decided to do something different.

5. The NCAA should hire him....
....pay the guy a modest salary to go around the country along with several others in the "Fallen Stars" tour. Target the number of guys who have their sights on a big payday that never comes and lose out on a degree in the process.Let them tour high schools and allow kids to see that shortsightedness first hand.

6. I wouldn't count him out just yet
I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't picked up once he is healthy and in a few years...who knows.

9. His only hope is that some team will send him to NFL Europe or
a Canadian team will pick him up. What a loser. Talk about someone that had a good thing going and blew it.

10. Does this really come as a surprise?
His work ethics are questionable, and his attitude stinks. In his case I know what NFL stands for. Not For Long! As in his career in professional football.
