RIP Chris Schenkel

NDIANAPOLIS - Sportscaster Chris Schenkel, whose easygoing baritone won over fans during a more than six-decade broadcasting career in which he covered everything from bowling to the Olympics, died Sunday following a long battle with emphysema. He was 82.

1. ABC did a nice tribute to him

at the start of the Indy 300 race they ran today. Interesting how many events he'd called that I've watched but didn't even know his name.

The one that really came to mind was Nadia K.'s perfect 10 in the Olympics.

2. I used to watch bowling back in the 70's....

not sure why, it's like watching paint dry (on TV anyway) and can still hear Schenke's voice calling the "action"

I think I watched mostly because a local guy, Marshall Holman, was one of the best in the game at the time.
