1. WooHoo!!!
I rejoice every time the Evil Empire falls ... and anything that pisses off Jerry Jones makes me happy.

2. I was watching The Ultimate Fighter, and turned on the last few minutes.

I saw the whole comeback. That was fun to watch.

5. Not a Redskins fan
But a diehard Miami Hurricane fan. I loved it that Santana Moss had those catches in the fourth quarter. He is amazing.

8. Not just Moss; Sean Taylor made a ferocious hit on 3rd down
Edited on Tue Sep-20-05 01:12 AM by Awsi Dooger
Bill Parcells even singled out Taylor by name in his post game press conference, talking about the play. It was 3rd down past midfield after Dallas fell behind. The pass looked like a first down at about the Redskin 40 but Taylor kamikaze flew into the picture and shattered the receiver. I didn't realize Taylor changed his number this year, now 21 after 26 last year and at UM.

I'm a huge Canes fan also. Still trying to rationalize the unforced error of moving in to the ACC and all its tossup games, but at least we pulled one of those out last Saturday.

Almost forgot: the Monday night game was a perfect example why I normally bet the first half only in football and basketball. All the crap that isn't representative of the bulk of the game itself inevitably happens in the second half. It's so peaceful to be sitting on a win at halftime enjoy the irrelevant rest of the game. But last night I had a piece of the game as well as the first half, and still feel a bit stupid.

9. That was an awesome hit by Taylor
Just like he used to do for the Canes. I think the move to the ACC was a positive one, it brings in more money, exposure and respect.

The problem with the Canes this year is their offensive line. I think they need to do some more timing patterns rather than have Kyle Wright sit back in the pocket looking for an open receiver.

I do like him, though. Barring injury, he should be just as good, if not better, than Dorsey.

12. I agree with you on Wright, but not the ACC
Edited on Tue Sep-20-05 06:26 PM by Awsi Dooger
Wright has tremendous ability and will continue to improve. He has subpar pocket presence right now and holds the damn ball too long. I'm always screaming, "just bounce and throw!' He takes a little bounce step after his drop. If Wright throws it at that point it's generally a positive play, if not everything tends to fall apart. As a USC alum I can tell you this: Pete Carroll wanted Wright badly. He was the ONLY QB that USC recruited that year, which included Chris Leak. Of course, that was before Leinart bloomed out of nowhere.

Miami's offense is predicated on superior personnel. They've gotten lazy and arrogant in that regard. As long as you had players like McGahee and Shockey and Andre Johnson and Bryant McKinnie it didn't matter what play you called. Now you're right they need more quick and decisive timing-type patterns, and especially better athletes in the interior of the offensive line. Here is a good Canes message board: http://miami.rivals.com/forum.asp?sid=903&fid=116&style=2

I hated the move to the ACC and always will. It dumped our annual shot at the national championship by 50% or more. That is not pessimism, it is math-based in regard to pointspreads and how they relate to likelihood of a straight-up win. Too many minefields in the ACC. Too much relative parity in personnel. Plus you forfeit that great scheduling advantage we always had, placing open dates in front of huge games and extending 11 games over 14 weeks. Now we have to keep that ACC championship date open at the end of the season, so much less flexibility. Plus, the added conference championship game is a hurdle we wouldn't face in the wonderful Big East.

i wanted Dallas to smash the Redskins, so to see them choke in the 4th quarter like that was veyr upsetting :grr: I'm not a Cowboys fan, I simply won't cheer for the redskins until they get their shit togeher--trading Ramsey now would be a good start.
