Cleveland fans get tortured again
Once again, we Cleveland fans get a good team and then get hopeful that they may do something great. However, once again, the team chokes and we continue to be left without a championship. It's been 41 years since Cleveland has had a championship of any kind.

I just can't believe the Tribe loses to Tampa at HOME!!! Why does Tampa all of the sudden decide to play like Superman??? The Indians had some hard hit balls, but they all died at the warning track. And then once the Tribe had the tying run on third with one out in the 9th, the worst possible play - a double play - occurs and ends the ballgame. What makes Cleveland so tortured is that we can taste the victory...only to then have it forcefully yanked away from us. We feel like we are always being teased.

Here the Indians go on a tear, and then lose two heartbreakers in a row to two doormats when it hurts most.

Not all is lost. At least the Indians got some help from Detroit, Toronto, and Baltimore (so far). But they could have gotten so much more out of tonight, especially when they were playing a last place team like Tampa.

We have had to put up with The Drive, The Fumble, The Shot, the Browns moving to Baltimore (and a crappy expansion team as a replacement), the 1997 WS Game 7 heartbreak...the list can go on and on.

When is this torture going to end?

1. Well as a Twins fan...
I am a temporary ally of yours, because there is no team I hate worse than the Chicago White Sox (with the exception of the Yankees of course), so I really hope you can knock them off!!! I wish the Twins could have been of more help. Only the incredible Johan Santana was able to pick up one game for you guys.

Don't worry, they just have to keep it within 2 games going into the series with the Sox and they can catch em!!!

7. Yes, but you had 6 NBA titles in the 90's
I am not talking about just baseball. I am talking about overall city success with pro sports. The last time Cleveland has had a championship of any kind is 1964 with the Browns.

5. Could it be Wicked Bad Karma from promoting a racist mascot?
Ye olde and repugnant Chief Wahoo is a slap in my face every time I see his hideous distorted mug. There are 6 million First Americans who feel equally insulted.

I like Cleveland and Ohio and I like the Indians as a baseball team, but the logo is a continual insult to all Native Americans.

When the team cleans up its blatant racism, and presents an Indian image with at least a skoosh of human dignity, perhaps their karma will improve.

In the meantime, as they say on the Rez, the Tribe cam go pound Frybread and watch the playoffs on TV (as usual).

8. I certainly hope not
If that's the case, then why would the Indians be allowed to win the World Series in 1948? Back then, the mascot was probably a lot more stereotypical and insulting to Native Americans than it is now.

Not much is discussed on Chief Wahoo. It's so ingrained as part of being an Indians fan that none of us would want to ever recognize anything racist about it.

As for being a catalyst for overall Cleveland sports torture, it probably merits some looking into. There needs to be some triggering event since 1964 (the last Cleveland sports title when the Browns won the NFL championship) to show that the mascot is somehow responsible. It would be an interesting study.

6. You are still in good shape.
The Yankees and Red Sox have to play each other. One of them is going to lose some games.
