World Chmapionship Figure Skating Women's SPOILER!!!!!!!!
OMFG, Kimmie Meissner won the gold. She came from third with a sepctacular program. Cohen fell and only completed two jumps, losing 15 points over Meissner. I hate to say this, but I hope Cohen retires. All she had to do was do half-way decently and she would have won.

Anyway, congratulations to Kimmie.

2. (Pre-click prediction) Cohen ended up on her ass again...

Yes, I think it IS time for Cohen to give up the ghost. Remember at the 2002 Olympics when she just happened to be standing next to President Potty-Stop and handed him a cell phone so he could speak with her mother? A heartwarming story as long as you ignore the fact that the Secret Service should have wrestled her to the ground. A little investigative journalism revealed that both Bush and Cohen had met with a cattlemen's group earlier that day--him for a speech and her to debut as their youth market spokesperson. So I'm crying my eyes out for you, Sascha--NOT!!!

3. Yes, but she's stylish
Elegant lines. Maybe they can have a spinoff sport where jumps are eliminated and Sasha Cohen suddenly becomes the best ever.

If her ass were more robust, perhaps she would avoid it more often. Scratch that. It doesn't work for Emily Hughes. Sorry, but she is a behemoth. Actually she's a normal sized girl for her age and build, but that just doesn't cut it at high level figure skating. I was ripped for calling her fat and unathletic after the US Nationals. Well, now she's even heftier and more clumsy.

4. Well, if she's a normal sized girl for her age and build...
... then she isn't FAT and she isn't a "behemoth".

Have you ever read the book, "Little Girls in Pretty Boxes"? If you haven't, I'd recommend it. It's attitudes and words such as yours that have led to girls starving themselves for sport. It's like the alternate universe version of sports on steroids.

5. Figure skating has gone the way of gymnastics....
...it used to be more about style, and there's been an explosion in the number and difficulty of jumps, and as girls become women, their bodies change and it's more difficult to do them. Why do you think Tara Lipinski and Sara Hughes dropped out after they won their golds--they wouldn't be able to compete anymore. Sascha used to be known for her jumps--she even once commented that she would be the first women to doa quad in competition.

6. Nice lecture
Made me hit the floor in a seizure of laughter.

If we're applying normalcy to highest level athletics, then let's get rid of all the bizarre body types that are needed for maximum performance. Jockeys have indeed starved themselves to make weight.

Emily Hughes can pretend she has a suitable weight and body type for highest level figure skating. And she'll continue to clumsily stumble into second level finishes at the international level. I mentioned in a post after the US Nationals that Dick Button was trying to be subtle regarding her, saying she has a heaviness to her jumps. Translation: too fat. She's a nice young enthusiastic girl who no everyone likes so the criticism has not been there. Yet. I absolutely guarantee it is being spoken in back rooms. She will be 20 in the next Olympic year so the added maturity may help her.

9. Your language was still offensive
Whether or not my "lecture" made you hit the floor in waves of condescending laughter.

It's one thing to say someone doesn't have the build for a particular sport, eg, I wouldn't expect a man who's 5'7" and weighs 145 lbs to play pro football. But I wouldn't proceed to describe such a man in vicious or demeaning terms because he isn't the right body type for a sport, even though he may have a perfectly normal body for the general population.

Using terms such as "fat" and "behemoth" are deliberately meant to insult. You used the words knowingly perfectly well how they were intended. At least Dick Button, in his subtlety, showed some class and manners.

Now if you want to play games of semantics, you have most certainly picked the wrong opponent.

7. It's too bad the athletic (jumping) nature of the sport haunts Sasha
as much as it does, because nobody, and I mean nobody holds a candle to Cohen in the elegance department.

Sure, it's my understanding she's a Bush lover (isn't she a Republican??) and that's why people on this board hate her guts....but even so, it just hurts me to see her fail.

But I'm happy for Kimmie :)

8. Sasha has the athletic ability to make the jumps, though
She doesn't seem to have the ability to really focus on her program all the way through - you can just see her fighting and IMO, when you have to fight your way through a program, then you've already lost. It should look as if it's a pleasure.

That's why I liked Kimmie Meissner's program so well. She seemed ecstatic all through it.

I don't think the Hughes sisters are FAT - they just don't looked toned to me. And they're not all that graceful, either. Their skating reminds me some of Nancy Kerrigan's and I never thought she was very artistic either, despite her beautiful skating outfits.

I do remember about Sasha and the beef council, and it still bugs me!
