2. Get ready for abuse.
No one is more abusive than Steeler fans. They even beat Giant fans! It must be an inferiority complex. Course if I was from Pittsburgh I might have a chip on my shoulder to start with as well.

17. My experiences tell me so.
I watched the Philly Pittsburgh game with some Steeler fans. I cheered the Eagles and congratulated the Steelers when they did good. The Steeler fans were vicious, and the most gracious thing they could say to me in my defeat was "Eagles are over-rated." It is my greatest hope that we get a rematch in Jacksonville in a few weeks so that Steeler fans can learn the difference between a non-conference regular season game and a game that REALLY MATTERS. Say what you want about last year, but I am talking about this year.

4. three reasons I'm confident
1. Ben Rothlisburger is STILL a rookie, and this is his first playoff game. Expect interceptions.

2. Bill Cower is the second-worst playoff coach, next to Marty Shitoldtimer in San Diego. The Jets couldn't ask for two better coaches to go up against back-to-back.

3. The offense is not as conservative as it once was, which might actually let us use some of the skill players we have like Santana Moss and LaMont Jordan - two players who hardly saw the ball at all last time these two teams played.

I think anyone expecting this to be an easy win for Pittsburgh is sadly mistaken.

6. Think. Think. Think. Think. Think. Think.
Anyone who's watched the Steelers and the Jets play this year knows that this would be a good weekend for Jets fans to hit the slopes and enjoy themselves. No need to put it off anymore.

7. On the other hand....
Why I am confident:

Cowher just turned in one of the best injury Reports of the year. The Steelers are healthy and well rested. Rothlisberger's favorite receiver Plaxico Burress will be in the game - unlike the laast time with the two teams met. They will also have both of their excellent running backs ready to go.

The last time the Steelers had a week off to rest and prepare for an opponent was before they played New England. Remember what happened there?

As For Rothlisberger, it's true that he has never played in a playoff game, but he has already played in 14 games (undefeated) as a starter this season. That's close to 2 college seasons. You still want to call him a rookie?

Then of course there is the Steeler's defense. They are all back and healthy. If you're expecting a defense like the Jets saw in San Diego, you're in for a surpise.

There's also home field advantage. The Steeler fans will make their presence known to the Jets, who by the way haven't won a game in Pittsburgh in the last 7 meetings.

9. #2 is a very good point.
How many home AFC championship games have Cowher & the Steelers choked away? They only just escaped Indy that year to make the Super Bowl, then got clobbered by Dall-ASS.

Oh I still think the Steelers will probably win, but given Cowher's playoff history, you never know.

15. Still more impressive then New York coach Herman Edwards
Edited on Wed Jan-12-05 12:22 AM by Champ
He is 2-1 in the playoffs advancing no further then the AFC Division round. Pittsurgh has the advantage when it comes to the Head Coach. Plus Pittsburgh has never gone 15-1 with a rookie QB who is 14-0.

QBs Cowher had, Pennington is better then almost all of them.
O'donnell
Tomczak
Stewart
Maddox
and now Roethlisberger

I say Big Ben is the most impressive.

19. Another counter to #2
Edited on Thu Jan-13-05 05:57 PM by Champ
Dennis Green is 4-8 lifetime in the playoffs(Cowher is 7-8, pretty impressive as it is very hard for a coach to be .500 or better when they've advanced many times) and one year his Vikings chocked away the NFC Championship at home with a squad that went 15-1. Why is Cowher worse? What about coaches who never even won in the playoffs? 2nd worst coach in the playoffs is not really a good point.

On edit:Wade Phillips is 0-3, wouldn't that make him pretty bad as a playoff coach?

20. I'm a Steelers fan so I may be biased

But to say the Steelers were clobbered by Dallas is ludicrous.

They were one interception away from winning that game.

11. Last time you were an inconvenience. This time you're in our way.
With Burress's return, the Steelers will be able to open up the offense more as Roethlisberger has a much stronger receiving corps with him in there. This allows for an improvement of both the Steelers passing game and the Steelers rushing game. With a more open offense, the Jets will be forced into a less aggressive defensive presence.

And the Charger fans can't compare to the rumbling terrible towel waving Steeler fans. Expect the false starts and delay of game penalties to increase this game because of a louder crowd and more pressure.

12. The only time in my life that I fell asleep during a Steeler game
Was the last Jet game.

I was never the least bit worried. Unless you can stretch the field and make two or three big plays against the Steeler secondary, you are in for a long long day. Pennington can throw his little ten yard crossing routes at Troy P and Farrior all day and I will be a very happy man.

The Steelers are healthy and rested and the Jets have played something like ten quarters of football on the road in two weeks. Good luck.

14. I guess you're going with the Stopped Clock Theory
If you talk shit on the Steelers every time they play the Jets, the law of averages will eventually be on your side.

The Steelers have the talent and depth to win it all this year, and they're healthier than they've been all year.

Don't forget, Plax didn't play in the last Jets game either.
