Amidst the piss-pounding of pitchers on Opening Day, there was a nice little gem thrown by a coupla fellas down in Deep-In-The-Hearta tonight:
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/boxscore?gid=260403118"We went with our normal offensive output," cracked first baseman Lance Berkman. "I always tell the guys (pitchers) if they want to win the game, throw a shutout."
"I wanted to stay in the game," Marlins ace Dontrelle Willis said. "I don't know exactly what the pitch count was (it was 107 after 5 innings; Willis had surrendered his first hit after 4 2/3), but I didn't want to come out that game at all."
Oh yeah; 40-year-old steroid-free Craig Biggio started the Astros' rally when he doubled into the left-field corner with two outs in the seventh. It was the 605th double of his career, tying Paul Molitor and Paul Waner for 10th place on the all-time list.
