New York Yankees run tracker
Since many baseball experts say the Yankees will score 1000 runs this year, I decided I will track it.
So far through two games: 18 runs. I'll update it after every game.

1. Ehhhhh, how about once a week
I love the Yankees but posting their season totals every single day(especially in April) will become tiresome.

6. the yanks
have the biggest disparity between runs scored and runs allowed, 80-52, yet they have a 6-6 record.

Which means what I said earlier is true - they'll win games 10-2, but lose just as many 4-3.

11. Has this ever been done before?
I have looked all over the internet and can't find ANY team records on runs scored. Is 1,000 some sort of higher stratus?

BTW-I'm not a Yankee fan at all and this is qutie funny to me. It reminds me of Steinbrenner's comment about his team not losing a single game a few years ago.

FYI- the Yankees haven't won the World Series in 5 years and that was one no one outside of NY seem to care much about (lowest ratings ever)

13. Records for runs scored
http://www.baseball-almanac.com/recbooks/rb_runs2.shtml

It's only been done twice since 1950 (I think the 2004 Sox did it)

"FYI- the Yankees haven't won the World Series in 5 years"

True but we've been to 4 (the two ALCS's vs. Boston were the real WS those year) winning 1.

"and that was one no one outside of NY seem to care much about (lowest ratings ever)"

That's because everyone hates the Mets. And that is no longer the lowest rated, 2002 and 2005 were lower. The Yanks have 3 out of the 4 highest rated WS after the strike.

But I don't think they will score 1000 this year. Not with Matsui out, Sheffield out, Cano injured (with a hammie which could bother him the rest of the season) and possbily Damon(strained oblique , same boat as Cano)

Still through all the injuries and the ridiculous Sox winning streak, the Yanks are only 3 games out. Will they win yet another divisonal crown? That remains to be seen.

28. crazy Arod rumor?
I'm not sure what you mean. Was Rome doing something today? I just checked the Yankee Usenet board and didn't see anything.

I am not sure that the the Yanks will go for Jones for a few reasons. Offense isn't as big an issue because the Yanks are still stacked even in the ridiculously pumped up AL. Shit they're 2nd in the whole league in runs. I put the Damon, Jeter, Giambi, ARod, Posada top of the order against anyone. Giambi is simply mashing the ball. Arod is loooking more locked in than he has all year(which important with his long swing). And Posada(lovingly known as "5lbs" in my circles since it looks like he is carrying a load in his pants when he runs to first) hasn't hit this well in years.

That said, Jone is enticing as a quick fix. He has ok power and he's cheap. But where do you put him? Matsui is coming back next year. Then you have Damon and I don;t think that Yanks want Melky tyo sit on the bench all year. Maybe Sheffield would be content to play the Strawberry/Chile Davis bench role for the Yanks next year?

All that said and I think they will continue to look for the best young pitching available. RJ and Moose aren't getting any younger and as much as I like Wang, he is not an ace.

29. Yeah
A-Rod to the Cubs for Armiris Rameriz, Jones and Ryan Dempster. that would be a very shitty trade in my opinion. The only way the Cubs could get A-Rod would be for Zambrano and prospects.
I think Sheff would be DH, Matsui in CF, Damon in LF and Melky/Jones in RF if they get him. I think they sohuld get pitching and what for Torri Hunter this off-season. Hunter and Zito.

Cano 2b
Melky LF

Use Sheff pff the bench w/ WIlson, Green (for speed), Williams on the bench

41. I simply can't fathom why they brought Liriano back so soon.
Seriously, lightning struck when they got Johan as he is the best young pitchers since Pedro came on the scene.

Then it happens again! You now have two dynamic young pitchers who could stay with your club for the next 3 years or so and wham.....they throw him back out there(when they may have been able to make the playoffs without him) and he's done for at least another season with Tommy John srugery to come(likely).

With the Yankees I could see it. With Boston i could see it. With them winning pennant races are all that matters. But the penny pinching Twins? Who need ever great player their farm system can muster for as long as they can afford them? I just am dumbfounded.

Back to the Yanks. Yeah Sheff sitting there, waiting to take a hellacious rip against the relivers (because no starter is gonna go 7 against us, its just not gonna happen) brings a mischeevious smile to my face.

Tomorrow its time to hang out with our Wang out(he was scheduled for today but got bumped because they are expecting rain).

Going for his 18th win.

They won't get to 1,000 runs, but with another

people expected. (Although the one-hitter last night

This is only the 10th team in Yankees history to score 930 runs with this high an on-base percentage (.363) and OPS (.824). Seven of the other nine won the World Series. And to find the last team that didn't, you have to go all the way back to 1931.
