Albert Pujols is good

If he played for an east coast team, his name would be front and center every day. I am here to submit that he is the best hitter in baseball today, and will likely be among the top ten in BA, HRs, and RBIs when his career is done. He is a better player than Ortiz by far, and may not be as good a player as Rodriguez, but I still think if he played for NY or Boston, we'd never hear about anyone else. And this is coming from a die hard Cubs fan. Unfortunately for us Cub fans, he's in St. Louis for the long haul. I believe they signed him to a long term deal. Smart.

2. I would argue that he is a BETTER player than A-Rod

Not yet, anyway. A-Rod puts up very similar numbers while playing a much tougher defensive position. That gives his offense more relative value (scarcity), and makes his defense more important. Albert is four years younger, entering his prime, and almost as good as The Game's Best Player, but he's not there just yet.

5. I wouldn'f for one reason

A-Rod's a five tool player:

Hits for average
Hits for power
Great Fielding
Power throwing
Excellent speed for base stealing

Albert can't steal bases. That alone puts A-Rod above Albert. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have both on my team, but ARod's a five tool player, Albert isn't.

3. I saw this player back in 1991.

His name was Frank Thomas back then. Just keep hoping that Poojoelos doesn't get hurt, which I never wish on any player, even if he does play for the "hated" Cards!

7. he's simply awesome

plays a great first base and his htting is superb. Not often to find a guy that can hit for power and average like he does as consistently. The other thing is his professionalism. He wants to win and acts like it, not selfish.

8. He's incredible

and I am glad the Cards locked him up for the long term because I can just see Steinbrenner eyeing a guy like that. He's a perfect fit for St. Louis though because historically they've had a lot of great classy players like Stan Musial and Ozzie Smith. I can't believe the dude is only 26 years old and I think he will only get better. I like his character too from what I know about him.

9. Albert Pujols is on ROIDS AND HGH

and has been since before the majors. And now anyone, any single player who does well or is having a career year is going to be under the cloud of Roids!!! And if Canseco hadn't written his book no one would be speaking about it!
