Who's career would you rather have - Dan Marino or Phil Simms

Dan Marino made it to the Superbowl once, didn't win, never went back. He holds many of the NFL's passing titles and will likely get elected to the Hall of Fame.

Phil Simms has two Superbowl rings - was MVP and played the greatest game of his career in the biggest game of his life in one, and set the table for the next by having a great regular season before breaking his ankle late in the season. He overcame the worst coach in Giant history (Oy the Handley years) to regain his starting job and made it the pro bowl in his 14th and final season.

So which would you rather be

Hall of Fame QB who never won the big prize

Superbowl MVP who had a solid career - and still I believe holds the record for Super Bowl completion percentage.

1. Dan Marino

If fame was what I was going for. He will always be known for his consistantly and prolonged fantastic performance. Not having a superbowl ring just ADDS to his fame.

It's like with the rushing title this year. Curtis Martin would have rather had the win, the guy on Seattle seemed to think the coach should have put his chance at the rushing title ahead of the winning the game.

I wonder if Ernie Banks would have traded the Hall of Fame for a shot a chance to play in the World Series.

I think it depends. I'm pretty sure Sanders played for fame, but I doubt that someone like Marino or Favre did/does.
I guess I didn't finish my thought.:) I'm guessing that Marino would trade all of his records for one amazing Super Bowl win that he led a team to.

Marino will always be known as the greatest QB who never won a Super Bowl. It will ALWAYS be mentioned and if you ask him he would trade all the records for a ring.

I think he went some 20 for 24 passing and that was because of some early drops. I don't think anyone dropped a pass in the second half. The man was unconscious. I think Marino would have traded his whole career for that moment of glory. Plus Simms is a way better commentator.

Not that Dan had an incomplete career, but unless you've won the big one, can look back at a specific event (the Super Bowl) and always remember that game and that moment, you're missing something that Phil will always have.

11. I'll never forget a game in the 86 Superbowl season

Giants vs. Minnesota. Giants were down late in the 4th quarter. It was 4th down and 17. Simm completed a pass to....it was either Bobby Ingram or Bobby Johnson...Giants won the game, finished the season 14 and 2.

The other loss that year was the opening Monday night game against the Dallas Cowboys. I think they lost 32 to 28. I was on my honeymoon.
