He's the smallest, slightest boy in his family - his two brothers (not pro athletes) are taller and bulkier. Looks like genetics vs. drugs to me.

No doubt about it, he is the heart and soul of the Phillies, a team that should have been out of it long ago yet are still battling down to the wire. His stats are considerably above the other contenders, this is a no-brainer.

Howard didn't homer after Sept. 22, leaving him stuck at 58. He finishes with a .313/.425/.659 line. He ranks first in the majors in homers and in RBI with 148.

Albert Pujols ends the season third in the NL with a .330 average, first with a .431 OBP, first with a .671 slugging percentage, second with 49 homers and second with 137 RBI. He'd get my MVP vote, and that would be the case even if the Phillies had advanced and the Cardinals hadn't.

I've been a miserable Phillies fan for 40+ years. I'll take the Astros over the Cardinals any day of the universe. About ten years ago the New Orleans Zephyrs were an Astros farm club and I loved going to the AAA games and watching Lance Berkman take batting practice against opponents (during the games.) Displayed a nice glove way back then too.
