Petrino To Falcons
When Coach Bobby Petrino signed a 10-year contract extension last summer at Louisville, he insisted that it include a million-dollar buyout as a sign of his commitment to the university.

At the news conference announcing his extension, Petrino said that Louisville was the place where he and his family wanted to be.

“I want everyone to really believe it,” Petrino said in July.

But in what is becoming a familiar trend on the coaching carousel, it did not take long for him to have a change of heart. Louisville announced last night that Petrino was taking the head-coaching job with the Atlanta Falcons. He will replace Jim Mora, who was fired.

1. Sad, Something Must Be Done
I think this is sad and something has to be done to stop football coaches from getting a college coaching job and then dumping it the moment something better comes along. Unless I read the article wrong Petrino baled out on a 5 year deal just after his first year. I think there should be some type of penality for coaches who do this type of thing. I think it is sad for the kids who may have chosen to go to Louisville to be coached by Petrino. This type of thing must stop.

4. The Notre Dame clause
Almost every football coach has a Notre Dame clause in their contract, at least. Bobby Ross had one when he was coaching the San Diego Chargers.

It is that sweet of a job supposedly.

3. Hmm, wonder if Phil Simms' kid will change his mind
He may be the best QB in NJ, a senior at state champ Don Bosco, and previously verbally committed to Louisville, along with at least one other top rated teamate. Maybe Rutgers could benefit from this.
