How many "official" game balls are used in NFL playoff games?
Edited on Thu Jan-18-07 02:19 PM by BOSSHOG
heard an ad on New Orleans radio this morning offering "Official" NFL game balls from the Eagles-Saints game for $129.99. But hurry there are only 5,000 available. 5,000 game balls? Who dat say dey gonna rip off dem fans?

Edited to put correct number (5,000) in.

1. 12 game balls and 12 "K" balls per game.
Each team is shipped 720 balls before the season starts and they get to select the balls to be used in home games. The "K" balls are sent directly from the league before each game and are not allowed to be used except in the game.

Basically they are trying to rape the fans here. What a shock.

2. I listened very closely to the ad
which is running often. Very craftily worded. Get the balls that were actually used in the Philly-NOLA big game; but only 5,000 left.

3. Charlie Caserly was on CBS last week and said that only 4 were prepped for the game
well actually they have 20 minutes to get into a room with the game balls and rub them down. Usually they only get to 4 in that 20 minutes. This had to do with Romo and the shiny (slippery) ball in the Seattle game. The K balls aren't touched at all-as a former kicker I love watching the kickers get them and quickly start to work them over in the 30 seconds they have before the whistle blows.

Trust me kicking a brand new ball is not easy or fun.

4. I got it off the NFL website.
Whatever the number may be you can rest assured there were not 5,000 balls in the game.
