I'm old enough as well(almost 48). As a young netminder myself, he was one of my heroes.

I posted so quickly when I heard the news, I didn't have photos to post.

Gump was the best goalie to ever play for a bunch of losing teams(except for the great Montreal teams he played with). He was also sort of the Yogi Berra of hockey. While playing for a particularly bad NY Rangers team, he was asked by a reporter which team was the hardest on him.
Gump's reply--"The NY Rangers." When the coach of that team accused him of having a beer belly, Gump replied, "That goes to show what a dope that coach is. I don't drink beer. I drink scotch."
After Bobby Hull hit him in the forehead with a slapshot, Gump, upon regaining consciousness said, "I'm glad the flat side of the puck hit me." When asked why he didn't wear a mask, Gump said,
"My face is my mask."
