Boy, Xavier got hosed on a terrible no-call!
Oden's fifth foul should have been called a flagrant foul, which would have given Xavier 2 shots and the ball, and a victory.

1. It was a great call
Oden was going for the ball.

Make the foul shots and the game would have been over.

6. WHAT?!?
Did you even SEE the play? Oden shoved the Xavier player out of bounds, both hands. There was no "going for the ball."

10. I saw the player from X attack Greg Oden ....
.... in what could only be described as savage and premeditated. He threw himself @
Greg to taunt him that he had the ball. Oden was trying to get away from him when
it happen.

Of course your version may be a little different.

Bottom line OSU came back from the dead with guts and clutch playing.

Fight the team across the field
Show them Ohio's here,
Set the earth reverberating
With a mighty cheer
Rah!! Rah!! Rah!!
Hit them hard and see how they fall,
Never let that team get the ball,
Hail! Hail! The gang's all here,
So let's win that old conference now.

Oh, Ohio!
Oh, Ohio!
Wahoo, wahoo, for Ohio!

12. Yeah? Watch this and then repeat your bullshit answer.

It was intentional and flagrant. Bottom line is OSU wouldn't have been able to win if that play had been called correctly.

I have never seen anything so brutal as that guy from X and his attack on Oden.

Like it or not that was the only "play" that OSU had left to make. What was
Oden supposed to do stand there and let the clock run out? Oden did the only
thing he could to keep his team in it.

Besides maybe there was some water on the end line and he just slipped.

And I hope the ref likes his new Lexus that he has coming to him. Bless his
little heart.

That shot by Ron Lewis was nice too. Ice water in his veins! Time to walk my labrador
on this beautiful sunny day in Columbus, OH.

BTW Yes, I know X got hosed but that's O.K.. They will get some nice t shirts to take
home with them.

16. I thought it was a fair call.
Oden did have his hands on the ball, well at least from what I could see, and the Xavier player just happened to have more possession of the ball than Oden did.

Plus, if they were going to call a flagrant, it really had to be excessive and I don't think it was.

Blame that Xaiver kid for not making the free throw...that's what really cost them. He makes that shot, they win the game no matter what they called on that foul.

2. If Xavier's player had hit both free throws...
If if's and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry Christmas.

7. Xavier's player shouldn't have HAD to hit both.
Edited on Sun Mar-18-07 07:59 AM by GaYellowDawg
That's the whole point behind the injustice. It should have been 2 shots, Xavier with the ball.

4. A 1 seed can't lose in the 2nd round of 32, C'MON
it fucks up the brackets, I wish Xavier & VCU had advanced, but there is too much money involved.

Any Given Day, remember???

OSU is not that good, I think Memphis or Tennessee will knock them out.

5. I have Tennessee making the Elite 8
My SEC picks have been good for me so far, with the exception of Arkansas. I have Vanderbilt, Florida, and Tennessee advancing to next week. I didn't pick them, but it wouldn't surprise me if Kentucky plays Kansas tight.

9. This is what screws me up.
As a Georgia fan, I HATE Tennessee and Florida. I want someone to knock OSU off, but I don't want it to be UT. I'm hoping Virginia can do something. And I sure don't want Florida to repeat.

As for UK and Vandy, I'm pulling for them both. UK fans treated my dad really well at the conference tourney and they've got me on their side for that. As for VU, they're my second favorite team. I hope they win it all, even though I know they won't.

11. I have no doubt that Kentucky will give K.U. a good game.
I would like to see them win so the Kentucky fans would get off
Tubby Smith's back.

8. I hate to say it but I think you're right.
Any given day... unless it would cut down on viewership. I hear fans say, "you're not going to get that call against a 1 seed." Well, why the hell NOT? Making calls situational makes a mockery of the game.

14. and guess who made the call?
Les Jones.

Who also didn't think that Henderson breaking Psycho T's nose was a flagrant foul, either.

Yes, they should have hit them both, yes, they should have fouled on the inbounds pass. Yes, Greg Oden should have the same memories as Chris Webber, having your final college play end your team's season.

15. If you want officiating injustice
Watch the Arkansas-Indiana State tournament game of 79. The NCAA just had to have a Byrd-Magic final when in reality it should have been a Sidney Moncrief-Johnson final and would have been if calls were made legitimately. And yes I think the call in the Xavier game should have been flagrant because, well, because it was flagrant. I believe if the roles had been reversed the lower seeded teams player would have gotten a flagrant call.

17. Oden gets away with a lot
I noticed it the week before in the Michigan game (regular season finale, not the Big Ten Tournament). Oden should have been out on fouls, but they simply didn't call a few of them, including an elbowing incident that even the announcers noticed.

However, I'm sure we won't have him around next year to complain about! I always say, Ohio State plays in the Value City Arena, and they have a rent-a-team.
