1. As an Arkansas Fan
this conjures up some wacky coaching changes. Lou Holtz from Hogs to Minnesota for one year before going to Notre Dame and Eddie Sutton just dying to leave Arkansas for the job in Kentucky. I think both moves were driven by UA Athletic Director Frank Broyles who ruled and still rules with an iron fist until he retires at the end of this year

6. I thought you were an LSU fan

But now, I understand your name. Frank Broyles must be really old by now. Seem to recall he was buddies with the old Bear.

11. I live
amongst many LSU fans. There are more LSU fans in South Mississippi then fans of Mississippi schools although my neighbor was a classmate of Bret Favre at Southern Miss. I graduated from Arkansas but my name is relative to my service in the Navy. Broyles is 82 years old and has been at UA for 50 years. I anticipate quite a function related to his retirement at the end of the year. He supposedly was a mean old SOB to work for but he brought a lot of bucks into the University. Frank and the Bear were buddies, and the Bear was a native Arkansan. I got quite a shrine to the Hogs and to my time in the Navy in my office. A Hog looks rather menacing with a Sailor Hat on. Life's been good to me.

2. I think there's been speculation for a while that
he's soured on/in Kentucky. When Kelvin Sampson left Oklahoma for Indiana last year, there were several rumors that Tubby was trying to position himself for the OU job. Still, I think that would've made more sense than going to Minnesota

7. I didn't realize that
But I don't really follow basketball that closely. College football is my favorite spectator sport.

Seeing your avatar makes me hope that OU and 'Bama will set up another home and home sometime in the near future. Those were fun games in '02 and '03 :hi:

So how long until football season? :)

10. I think I heard on the radio today it's 159 days!
That's pretty close anyway. They have the countdown everyday on the Paul Finebaum show. (That's a show out of Birmingham. It's syndicated in the southeast and is on either XM or Sirius.)

Yeah, those games were fun, except from my perspective the outcome. But we have a real coach now. :)

Seriously, I'd love a series. For some reason, OU and UA fans really seem to get along well.

Boomer Sooner, Roll Tide. :hi:

3. I believe that...
...if Tubby Smith puts up a similar record at Minnesota to what he did at Kentucky, Minnesota fans will appreciate him far more than the UK fans ever did.

5. probably so

I wonder who Kentucky will go after. Their fans very much want to dominate the SEC like they used to. Billy Donovan has really got Florida rocking, and Tennessee is really coming on strong with Bruce Pearl. (I was expecting great things from my Alabama this year, but we severely underperformed.)

13. yeah, I was watching that
It looked like the Volunteers were going to crush the Buckeyes, during the first half. As an Alabama fan, I know I'm supposed to hate Tennessee, but I was cheering for them.

4. Well so much for my fantasy
I really wanted Tubby Smith here at Iowa, since Alford is (thankfully) leaving. Boy that would have been sweet. Well, I think Minnesota will be pretty good in a few years.

8. well, since you need a coach...
Maybe I'll let you have Alabama's Mark Gottfried. He's a decent recruiter, but doesn't seem to be able to motivate, or to coach defense AT ALL. He's the only coach to get the Tide as far as the elite eight, but his teams are terribly inconsistent. It's okay if you don't want him. I understand. :)
