2. I think, actually

that he will benefit the most from having Becks around, it will certainly raise the professionalism of the team, and getting served by Becks will certainly help his game, and his eagerness to keep developing.

I don't think neccesarily think that Donovan being in the US, not Europe is a bad thing for US soccer as a whole, and frankly, he would only really be helped playing in Spain or Italy, not EPL or Germany, where his game isn't suited for it.
