3. Phillies and Athletics in the World Series
Ryun Howard to hit his 62nd homerun at his last at bat of the regular season. Many then crown him the homerun king.

4. I like the Phillies, except for Charlie Manuel
I just don't think he's a playoff-caliber manager

20. Take it for what it is
a total homer pick! I like the Twins a great deal this year. Not sure about Detroit, even before Kenny Rogers went down. Minnesota seems like a good choice in the best division in baseball. My Dodgers have the luxury of playing 18/19 games against the D-backs, Rockies, and Giants.

We can agree Sandy Koufax and his 0.38 ERA was awesome in that series! Even though he missed his scheduled start for game one.

6. Totally uneducated
But here are my picks.

NL East: Atlanta Braves. Have to go with the team I grew up rooting for. Lets hope that their rotation stays healthy this season.

Central: Chicago Cubs. Lou Piniella may be able to turn this club around. They've spent a lot of money in the off-season. Still, I question the signing of Jason Marquis. For Chicago's sake, I'll have to hope that Soriano has a big season.

West: I like the LA Dodgers. I can't root for cheater Barry Bonds. I like LA to repeat and win the NL West in 2007.

AL East: I'll pick Boston this year. I can't stand the Yankees. It's funny that overpriced bust Carl Pavano will be the opening day starter. If Boston is to win, former Florida Marlin Josh Beckett will have to return to 2003 level success. Dice-K is a 20-game winner, I think!

Central: Cleveland Indians. They were a huge disappointment last season. But they return with a big lineup, along with pitcher Sabathia. They were predicted to win last year, but came up short. I like them to overtake Detroit and the CHI Sox this year.

West: I'll go with Oakland. Billy Beane has been able to win. with a cheap payroll. But watch out for the LA Angels of Anaheim

16. Jeebus, I hope you're wrong
BB is only thing dampening my baseball fever this fine opening day. I'd like to live in alternate universe where he is not part of professional baseball.

8. I'm making the only prediction worth picking...
the NY Mets will win the NL East, the NL pennant and the World Series this year. I will probably end up eating crow come October like I do most years but I feel this year is going to be a very good year for my team so why not go for the gusto

going down to the last week of the season.

11. Yankees fan or not, I think it's their time.

Or at least I thought so until Wang's injury. If they stay healthy, I don't see how they can't take it this year.

13. It all depends on their starting pitching.
Wang should come back later this month, and Pettitte and Mussina need to defy Father Time, Pavano needs to stay healthy, and nobody quite knows what to expect from Igawa yet.

12. Yo! Subway! Or maybe even the El!
AL West: A's
AL Central: Twins
AL East: Yankees
Wildcard: White Sox
(I have an odd feeling that the Mariners might be more interesting than they should be on paper, though, too.)

NL West: Padres
NL Central: Cardinals
NL East: Mets
Wildcard: Cubs
(But the Brewers might make more waves than people think, as well. I actually don't know why I'm picking the Cubs for a wildcard. On most days, I'd probably tell you that they'll play .500 ball and not much better. Not sure what's different today.)

It's a subway series, with Yankees taking it in six. (Hmm. With the right injuries, it could also be an El year!)

(And I'm not a Yankees fan, nor a Mets fan, nor a fan of any of these eight, outside of the Cubs. Oh, and I didn't exactly think about these picks for long, either. LOL!)

14. My two cents worth
N.L. East- Mets. Pitching is questionable, but a strong lineup
Central- Cubs. My Cubs. Zambrano is best pitcher in N.L. if not all of baseball and Soriano, Lee, and Ramirez will see to it that runs are scored.
West- Dodgers. Pitching wins and they have it.
Wild Card- Phillies. Good lineup and may have just enough pitching.

A.L. East- Yankees. I hate the Yankees, but this lineup can score nearly at will.
Central- Twins. They just keep getting overlooked but they are good. I have seen first hand how good their Minor League system is.
West- Athletics. Tough call, but again, pitching wins.
Wild Card-Tigers. Still good and still young.
N.L. Playoffs-Cubs over Phillies
Dodgers over Mets
Cubs over Dodgers
A.L. Playoffs-Twins over Athletics
Yankees over Tigers
Yankees over Twins

World Series- My Cubs over the hated Yankees in the most exciting seven game series in history.
