Frank Gore to recieve $14 million in guaranteed money through 2011.
Man I'm pleased to read this... talking about overcoming adversity--- If not for back to back knee injuries at Miami, Gore may have been the greatest running back the school had ever seen. And that's saying something.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Running back Frank Gore has agreed to a four-year contract extension with the San Francisco 49ers, a reward for his team-record 1,695 yards rushing last season.

Gore, who led the NFC in rushing in his second pro campaign, was due to earn $435,000 in the upcoming season. With the extension, the Pro Bowl running back will be under contract to the 49ers through 2011 with a deal containing more than $14 million in guaranteed money.

The deal, reported by various media outlets, was confirmed to The Associated Press by a person close to the negotiations who spoke on condition of anonymity because the 49ers aren't expected to announce it for several days.

1. He had a great year in 2006,
despite being small for a back. Hope he can hold up to the pounding.

3. Dangerous deal
As you mentioned, he's had two blown out knees. He was great last year, but do you think he can hold up for four more seasons like that one?

4. I Was Praying That The 49ers Got The #1 A Year Ago
That way they could have had a backfield of Bush and Gore.

5. Great for Frank Gore
I'm thrilled he got a payday to set himself and his family up for life. This may be his one big contract, considering what I've heard about his knees and what they may mean to his actual football age.

Gore is a good guy, that's why Canes fans are rooting for him and more concerned that he gets his cash than anything he does on the field the rest of his career. Once he got that second injury against West Virginia I never thought he'd be a major factor in the NFL.

Right now he's certainly a better and more instinctive back than the Dolphins got with the second pick of that '05 draft, the grinning mediocrity Ronnie Brown and his emphatic spikes after 7-yard runs.
