Billly Donovan to Arkansas?
I learned in the Navy that if you don't hear a rumor by noon, start one.

1. Donovan is best friends with Pat Riley
...and Pat Riley is the coach and GM of the Heat which is in.....MIAMI which is in....FLORIDA..,.....

One thing I can tell you for certain. Donovan isn't going back to Marshall-he and his coaches got run out of town for chasing too many skirts (married and otherwise) as he was headed to Florida. but you didn't hear that from me.

2. A scandolous coach in Fayetteville would be nothing new
Frank Broyles is a pain in the ass to work for but he is successful and he is retiring in December. I think he's about 140 years old. Hogs are still looking, they best step up the pace. And as an alumnus I know they can afford someone of Donovan's stature.

3. Donovan's Status
What was Donovan's marriage status at the time? I am just curious in that he is now married with two kids. Would you be willing to tell how you know this information about him chasing skirts?

6. Yeah, but Miami and Gainesville are several hundred miles away
Thank god.

Gainesville is much closer to southern Georgia than Miami.

4. Might Stay At Florida
He might just stay at Florida. I am hearing that some of the starting five are coming back once again. For all those who hate Joekim Noah (I am not his biggest fan) and cannot wait for him to go to the NBA I am hearing that he is staying once again. It is also being said that he and other will try to convince Corey Brewster and other players to stay for another year. So I think if most or all his starting five stay another year Donovan will also stay for at least one more year.

7. Well, he's not going to Kentucky.
Kentucky is a lose/lose situation for him.

He'll be expected to at least get to the Final Four, if not win the whole thing within 2 years, and there's no way that's going to happen. The boosters and whack-job fans at Kentucky refuse to understand that they are no longer one of the top tier basketball programs in the country.

Here's what's going to happen:

Donovan will talk to Kentucky and they'll present him with an offer, then Florida will offer a bit more, and Donovan will say, "thanks but screw you" to the Wildcats.

Because of what Florida men's basketball has done the last two years, Donovan could miss the NCAA tournament for the next ten years and his job would still be safe. The only way that I can see him getting fired by Florida is if some absolutely hideous scandal erupts which he is directly linked to, on the order of his being videotaped getting blow jobs from 2 cheerleaders in his office.

8. Nope, he's staying at Florida
Edited on Thu Apr-05-07 02:03 PM by MaineDem
I'll look for a link.

Here it is: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/basketball/ncaa/04/05/bc.bkc.florida.donovan.ap/index.html

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Coach Billy Donovan will stay at Florida, spurning a chance to return to Kentucky and take over the tradition-rich program.

Donovan met with Gators athletic director Jeremy Foley earlier Thursday and agreed to stay at the place he's taken to consecutive national titles.

"After finally having an opportunity to sit down with my family, and with Jeremy Foley, I've decided that I will remain at the University of Florida," Donovan said in a statement. "I have great respect for the University of Kentucky, its great history and tradition, and I had five wonderful years in Lexington.

"That being said, I'm very proud of what we've built here at the University of Florida and I look forward to continuing to build on it."

Florida planned a 4 p.m. news conference Thursday to formally announce Donovan's decision. Juniors Corey Brewer, Taurean Green, Al Horford and Joakim Noah also were to be there, announcing whether they are staying in school or turning pro.

9. I wonder how Big Blue Nation feels about this
They've been spurned by nearly every object of their lust since they said good riddance to Tubby Smith.
