Gold Cup Final...US/Mexico
the US is a little banged up, with Hejduk and Bradley out with cards, but Mexico has been struggling too. If everything holds to form, the US will jump out to an early lead and then blow it as the end nears.

Still, the US has won 8 of the last 11 against Mexico, and hasn't given up a goal in the US to the Tricolors in 9 matches...should be interesting. (for those following at home, the game is on Fox Soccer and Univision.

1. 1-0 Mexico at half
Either the Mexican fans outnumber the US fans by about 20:1, or they out-shout them by the same ratio, lol. Quite an atmosphere.

6. nice footwork
from Ching, but why, oh why, can't the US find someone to finish those? this game should be 4-1 US.

7. That painful trend continues
With that almost sure thing that Beasley knocked off the bar...I need a drink!

9. I know how he feels
I did the exact same thing in high school!

good thing he has already 'come to terms' with a new club, whoever that might be.

now on to the potential Massacre that is the Argies on Thursday. After the ugliness that was United-Salt Lake last night, I am happy to have seen some decent football this weekend.

8. when you hit two posts
on wide open nets, and still win, you can consider it an escape. this was the best US-Mexico match in years, and, finishing aside, perhaps the best US effort since Italy. Great match.

11. The effort by Ching was spectacular.
It would've been the equal of the Feilhaber effort had it gone in. He was unlucky to hit the post.

Beasley, on the other hand, has to bury his chance.

13. I'm still holding out hope for EJ.
He's really streaky, though.

14. we shall see
frankly, he's a great MLS striker, when he wants to be, but he has never shown even a hint of consistency at the national level. of course, if he lights up Copa, I think KC can kiss him goodbye.
