Terrell Owens Says He'll Play on Sunday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- All-Pro receiver Terrell Owens said Tuesday he will play in the Super Bowl, a day after practicing with the Philadelphia Eagles.

``I will play on Sunday,'' Owens said. ``I know the type person I am. I have a lot of faith in my ability. I feel great. I'm proving a lot of people wrong. The sky is the limit for me. There are no limitations.''

Brushing aside his doctor's advice and -- some might say -- common sense, Owens returned to the practice field Monday, determined to pull off the most improbable play of his career by making it to the Super Bowl.

He ran the required routes. He made the necessary cuts. And -- is this a sign of what's to come Sunday against the defending champion New England Patriots? -- he caught the passes that were thrown his way.

7. Actually there was an article in the local paper out here last week about

an Oakland Raider player that played in the Superbowl on a bum leg. Eventually a number of surgeries couldn't fix his problem and they had to amputate. There was also Garrison Hearst who had an ankle injury that was so bad that they were talking possible amputation, but he was able to recover(2 plus years) and have a good year for the 49ers a season or so back.

So it's HIS decision, I hope it works out well for him regardless of the game's outcome.

Personally, I don't think he should play, and not because I'm rooting for the Pats, just becuase even if it is the SUPERBOWL.. I don't think it's worth a career ending injury and such. If he does play.. more power to him.. but if he does get seriously hurt.. It was his decision.. and he'll have to deal with it. So what I'm saying is.. I won't be sorry if he suffers an injury.. cause it was his decision to play.. but I'm not going to sit there throughout the game hoping for it to happen

I mean that's just ridiculous and sick. I want the Eagles to win but I'm not hoping and cheering for career ending injuries to Brady. T.O. is not risking that here though, he basically had a badly sprained ankle and fractured fibula (Non weight bearing bone) which has healed enough for him to go. I expect him to be fine for the game and as dangerous a weapon as ever. You want to see the best players play if you are a real fan.

Fair enough, if he can feel he can play.... so be it. Like I said if he feels as if he is ready to play... very well then. Forgive me for being clueless, but wouldn't Reid have the final say on this.. or has he pretty much decided if T.O feels he can play.. he can play?

In any event.. I don't think I can believe he'll be 100 percent for the game. I will believe he'll give it his all out there though. The thing is if he does get injured, and this is hypothetical, you can bet you're going to be hearing a lot of "I've told you so's" from all directions and such. In any event, if he goes out there, I don't think he'll be as dangerous, but I think he'll still be quite effective.


Hoping for a good game. Going to get all my homework done Friday and Saturday so I won't have to worry about it all all Super Bowl Sunday.

I think he's a self-promoting twit at times, but i don't deny his talent, his guts, and his dedication. Wishing someone gets hurt reminds of the Romans and the gladitorial spectacle.

I just think it's going to happen. Marvin Harrison is still trying to find body parts, and he was healthy.

on edit: interesting a philly fan lecturing anyone on cheering for injuries. I think Michael Irvin would find that funny. And Donovan McNabb or Mike Schmidt might think something different about Philly having any class after being booed for no good reason.

I got the sense watching ESPN last night that McNabb and the rest of the Iggles are getting kinda cheesed off at TO for making this historic and huge Eagles Super Bowl trip the TO Show. Someone asked McNabb if TO made him a better quarterback, and McNabb pretty much barked, "I'm already a great quarterback. If he made me better, I made him better."

I just really hope he doesn't get hurt again. For all his silliness, he is a great player. You have to admire a guy who talks whole oceanliners full of shit and then delivers like UPS: On time and worldwide.

If he comes in during the first series, gets hurt, and then has to be helped off, the Eagles gametime confidence is going to look like the Hindenberg. I hope the coaches play this smart, and don't let his ego dictate terms. Grady Little did that with Pedro in Yankee stadium a couple of Octobers ago, and it did not come out well at all.

He's been running hard and cutting on it for over a week now. All reports indicate he's as fast as he was at the beginning of the season. Terrell Owens keeps saying that he's going to play. I would think this would be a decision that the coaches make, not the player. Especially since he has not been given medical clearance. The coaches are watching Terrell's practices. If he's not ready to play, then Reid would be a fool to activate him.
