1. Packer fan here
and Favre has been reported to retire every year for about the last five or so. I sincerely hope this report isn't true, but he's gotta retire someday I suppose. If he's gone, we Packer fans can look forward to more lousy football.

Emmitt says he's not done yet

04:00 PM CST on Tuesday, February 1, 2005

By JEAN-JACQUES TAYLOR / The Dallas Morning News

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Emmitt Smith, the NFL's all-time leading rusher, vigorously denied reports Tuesday that he was about to announce his retirement.

"Did you see my year last year? Do you think I'm ready to retire?" Smith asked. Smith is here for Super Bowl XXXIX festivities and, Monday night, took part in a dinner honoring past Super Bowl MVPs.

3. Emmitt says he's not done yet...
...but he says all the things everyone says when the soon-to-be-true rumors of retirement (or trade/resignation/getting cut/etc.) are leaked to the public before they're officially announced.

6. He implied that they had been "talking back and forth"
when they were not in fact talking at all. He also stated he felt the coaches were harrassing Favre about it and he would quit because of that, when he had no idea. Donald got a little carried away, methinks

Favre's brother is quoted in the GB Press Gazette as saying, Favre will return

7. Favre SHOULD retire.
A wife recovering from cancer, children who are excited when the season ends because they can see their daddy, a number of NFL records, a championship - what's left to prove?

His skills are diminishing, and while he wins his team a few games, it can be said that also he loses about as many.

At least come out and state your intention, so the team management can prepare.

Plus, being a Vikings fan, I would ***love*** for his last game to have been a home playoff loss to the Vikes. Buah ha ha ha!
