Dentist Sues Phillies Over Beaning
OMG. And I thought I'd heard EVERYTHING. :eyes:

I'm sorry the guy suffered injuries, but anybody whose ever set foot in a ball park knows there's always a chance of something like this happening.
**********************************************************************
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) -- A dentist who lost some of his vision after he was beaned at a Philadelphia Phillies game is suing the team, alleging that not enough was done to protect spectators.

Neil Pakett, of Elkins Park, would have been protected during the June 25, 2001, game at Veterans Stadium if the backstop was wide enough to meet the recommendations of the Architectural Graphic Standards and had been angled differently, according to court documents citing an expert hired by Pakett's lawyer.

Pakett was struck when a foul ball flew off the bat of the Phillies' shortstop Jimmy Rollins, who was batting left-handed. Pakett attempted to catch the ball, instead of protecting himself, according to court documents.

<snip>

Pakett and his attorney, Frederic Eisenberg, did not return messages left Friday. Pakett, who underwent surgery for the injury, suffered temporary blindness and has not regained all of his sight, according to the suit. Pakett was seeking more than $50,000 in damages, Foster said.

4. Not an anti-dentite joke...
more of a sarcastic prediction about his probable political affiliation, based on the support that *boy gets from the 'professional' sector. This is the type of guy that probably embraces tort reform, until he figures that he can 'play the lottery'. Sarcasm off.
By the way, in your other post, you asked if the OP had ever been to ball game where the balls didn't move? Clearly the OP never attended the Red Sox games of the mid-seventies (I'm also a former Bostonian).:hi:

2. Say what?
Due to the high ticket prices, I have not sat in a good seat in Fenway in years, so I guess I'm safe. But if I remember the legalese printed on the back of the ticket, by walking through the turnstile the fan acknowledges that he is walking into an environment that is subject to flying baseballs and bats.

Imagine a game where no balls moved!

I'm sorry he lost some of his vision, but guys like him who wear suits to games should sit in the luxury boxes.
