Pierce leads Celtics to 98-88 win in Game 1

By TOM WITHERS, AP Sports Writer 24 minutes ago

BOSTON (AP)— Big moments have defined the Lakers-Celtics blood feud, and in their first get together in 21 years, a kid from Los Angeles gave Boston one to remember.

Paul Pierce, who used to sneak into Lakers games as a youngster, came bounding out of the tunnel from the locker room after leaving with an injured knee and led the Celtics to a tense 98-88 victory over Los Angeles in Game 1 of these tradition-soaked finals.

1. Awesome Boston Sports night
My adrenaline was already pumping after watching the brawl at Fenway.

Coco's comments about the fight on NESN Extra innings were just too funny

Then, the Celtics played a hell of a game and the defense contained Kobe for the most part

I was in shock when PP went down and was carried off the court, but when he came back I knew that this was their game tonight

2. Good start
but they need game 2 also, what with this 2-3-2 format. You don't want the Lakers going home with a chance of never having to return to Boston. Also, I'm somewhat concerned about Pierce's knee, guess we'll see in the next couple of days.

BTW, what was going on with Ramirez and Youklas in the dugout? Another "Manny being Manny" moment?

3. BEAT LA
Manny and Kevin will be just fine. Its the same as when you and a sibling would get in a fight then ten minutes later your both eating ice cream together

4. Overrated
This series will be fun to watch, but it is totally overrated...
