And so it is. After his dismal performance at Roland Garros, can Federer defend the title? Or is his year really as bad as it has looked so far? Is it possible for Nadal to win on grass? He won at Queen's Club last week, after all, and beat Roddick and Djokovic in the semis and finals to do it. Or will it be Djokovic, whose game seems custom made for a Grand Slam break out on the grass? And I can't be alone in hoping that perennial head case Andy Murray stays together long enough to make it late in the draw.
On the women's side, I have no idea. You can't count out Venus, but she hasn't been playing well. Sharapova might be able to come back from her subpar performance last year. I don't have any reason to believe the Ivanovic or Jankovitc can win; Serena looks like she's in far better shape than she was a month ago, but she had a tough first round match against nobody. Hmmmmmm. Looking at this, I realize that, although I prefer women's tennis to men's, the tournament looks much worse on the women's side this year.
Sad side note: Wimbledon is, astonishingly enough, using hawkeye this year. I never thought I'd see the day.
