HUGE props to the Eagles
Edited on Sun Feb-06-05 10:55 PM by WilliamPitt
A little better clock management towards the end and this is a different conversation.

A GREAT game.

Let no man or woman speak ill of TO, while we're at it. The man played hurt, but did not play scared, and made a HUGE impact.

I've been saying all week that if the Eagles had played anyone besides the Pats, I'd have been rooting hard for them.

You'll be back next year.

(but so will we)

:toast:

1. As an old Eagles fan who once lived in Philly...
...they choked again!

Anyway, hats off to the team and the poor fans who have to watch it all go down in flames again...

5. This too shall pass, zulchzulu...
Take it from a "so long, suffering Sox fan".
It only feels like forever:D

2. Brady was just a little better than McNabb today.
Not surprising being that it was Brady's 3rd and only McNabb's 1st Superbowl.

Owens earned a lot of respect from me today. I still don't appreciate his sportsmanship, but the guy is a supremely talented and devoted athlete.

He's hands down the best receiver in the NFL.

3. Yeah, props to the Eagles...
...and in the interest of good sportsmanship, I will keep my lips closed about TO.

6. Iggles Fan Living In Maine, Here!
I'm a transplant who moved here from Philly 3 years ago. I will eat the crow tomorrow but still have pride in my IGGLES. Next year is here and congrats to the PATS, my second favorite team!

7. Props to T.O. He was much better than I thought.
T.O. delivered. He was missing that extra burst of speed but he still did great.

And PROPS to the Pats who were missing their normal starting CBs and their starting free safety. D.M. did very well against the Pats secondary but the Pat strategy of bend but not break provided the opportunity for turnovers.

8. Props to TO as well
I'm not a fan of his celebrations, but the man shows up to play every time. Helluva game today, especially coming off an injury. It's not too bad to talk when you can back it up. Motormouth Mitchell on the other hand..........

10. From an outsider looking in...
I thought McNabb was great, but his team only gets him about 3-5 seconds of pass protection, yet he made some great passes. Brady on the other hand gets about 5-8 seconds of protection, and that's where this game was won. Yo Philly, don't kill McNabb, kill your offensive line!

11. T.O. was great - Mcnabb sucked ass...
The Eagles fell into the NE trap. Dumb-asses didn't even realize it until it was too late. You would think the Colts & Steelers game films weren't available for review!

McNabb telegraphed his throws. McNabb looked like his mothers Chunky Soup contract got cancelled...he's still being overblown by the media.

He's got average accuracy, average game management skills, and average legs. He's not Michael Vick (speed), he's not Tom Brady (management), and he's not Peyton Manning (accuracy)...They guy is a good QB, but he's not great. You could see that he stares down his receivers, throws without touch short, can't hit a spot on the receiver...just gets it in the general area.

I've not seen a performance like that in quite some time. He really studied up on his game film and put forth one oscar-quality exhibition - not many QBs in the league can do a Kordell.

Reports: McNabb Sick During Crucial Part Of Super Bowl
AP ^| February 8, 2005

PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was so ill in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl that a teammate had to call a play in the huddle, center Hank Fraley said.

"He fought to the end," Fraley told Comcast SoortsNet on Monday. "He gave it his all. He was almost puking in the huddle. One play had to be called by (wideout) Freddie Mitchell because Donovan was mumbling because he was almost puking."

16. Uh...what Will Pitt said!
Seriously. If Andy Reid hadn't attended the Dennis Green School of Clock Management at the end, then the Iggles would be the ones crowing.

I won't speak ill of TO either--I never thought he was selfish. The man just wanted to play, and I blame ESPN and the sports media for demonizing his motives.

FYI: If the Eagles are in it next year but New England isn't, I solemnly vow that I shall change my avatar to Philly's logo for the entire playoff season, as well as putting a picture of McNabb, Westbrook, or TO in my sig. :)
