NBA All-Star reserves announced
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/scorecard/nbanews.asp?articleID=122480

<snip>

"The NBA has announced 14 reserves for the 2005 All-Star Game to be played on Sunday, February 20 at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado."

<snip>

"The reserves for the Eastern Conference are Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas and forward Antawn Jamison, Miami guard Dwyane Wade, Cleveland center Zydrunas Ilgauskas, forward Jermaine O'Neal of the Pacers, Boston forward Paul Pierce and Pistons center Ben Wallace. Arenas, Jamison and Wade will all make their first career All-Star appearance.

For the Western Conference, forwards Manu Ginobili of the Spurs, Rashard Lewis of Seattle and Amaré Stoudemire of the Suns will all make their initial All- Star appearance. Also named to the Western All-Star team are guard Ray Allen of the Sonics, forward Shawn Marion and guard Steve Nash of Phoenix and forward Dirk Nowitzki of the Mavericks."

1. GINOOOOBILIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sir Charles will be pleased.

If they play straight up and try to win, the West takes this one easily. I'm hoping Pop will simply sit Tim for most of the game. He's getting a bit banged up and needs the rest.

Wade, Nash and Allen should have been starters.

Weird that Phoenix has three players, while the Spurs only have two. I'd like to have seen Tony Parker in there, but can't figure out who to squeeze out. Maybe he can be a replacement if Kobe can't make it.

OTOH, Beno Udrih is in the rookie game.

3. Jason Kidd doesn't make the team?
:wtf: is up with that?

Paul Pierce makes it, though?

Gilbert Arenas?

Please.

If Kidd and Jefferson didn't get hurt this year the Nets would have had three all-stars.

I would not want to play my Nets in the playoffs this year.

6. Who comes off?
Kidd hasn't played much at all this season. Arenas is having a great season.

4. Only one Piston
I mean they are the reigning champs, after all. Where are Chauncey, Rip, and 'Sheed?

7. Pistons are a great TEAM, but they simply aren't individual all-stars

Who would you take off?
My biggest disappointment in selections is Vince Carter. Sure he just had back to back 40+ point games.
But give me Kidd or Francis over Carter any day.

Edit: My bad, I was thinking of Carter as a 2-Guard. He is in as a forward, and I wouldn't place Kidd or Francis over AI, Wade, or Lebron (maybe Arenas)
