Horse of the Year
Now that Curlin has lost in the Breeder's Cup should Zenyatta be named the horse of the year?

2. Raven's Pass should win
Just kiddin'.

I think both Curlin and Zenyatta have good shots at HOY. Although Curlin lost today, he had a great all-around year (don't forget the great Dubai win - that will earn him big points) and tried two new surfaces, running well on both. Voters may actually commend him for those efforts. I think it's a tossup between them and don't mind if either wins.

I believe that yesterday was Curlin's last race.

5. LOL.
I'm starting to feel a little better about Curlin's beatdown. I think you have to make Zenyatta HOTY. Curlin needs to be commended for what he did this year and should be Older Horse Champ. But, you gotta give it to Zenyatta. She's amazing.

8. Yes, even though Zenyatta's win is less impressive to me now
That Pro-Ride favors stretch runners to absurd degree. So the amazon filly used the track bias to her advantage and won by about a length. Yawn.

Admittedly, I downgrade late closers so I'm not absorbed by Zenyatta. I hope she comes back next year and gets her fanny kicked by a classy front runner on a true dirt surface.

9. No
Curlin should be HOY.

Zenyatta beat fillies in CA all year. Yeah, she won four grade I's but Curlin won Grade I's
on dirt in Dubai and several different tracks. Curlin got beat by a grass horse on a synthetic
track.

Zenyatta's perfection in her own division should not overshadow all Curlin did all year.
