Not just one team. Other teams besides the Yankees, such as the Mets, Red Sox, Dodgers, etc..have also spent a lot of money "buying" players. Yes, the Yankees have been excessive but the league needs to be blamed more than one specific team.

8. If I remember correctly, Eddie DeBartolo's free-spending ways with 49ers
helped push owners towards the salary-cap in football. And I think the NFL is better for it.

9. I agree.
There needs to be a salary cap. What the Yankees are doing, as well as other teams, may not be kosher in the minds of popular opinion but it's not illegal according to the rules that are in currently in place.

A cap is needed.
