Cowher in line to coach the Redskins??
Redskins coach Jim Zorn may be vying for his job over the final three games. Sports talk callers aren't the only ones wondering whether the Redskins might have Bill Cowher on speed dial for 2009. Redskins Park sources are also pondering if the team's 1-4 collapse to practically ruin its once sure playoff chances could also claim the coach. "The honeymoon is definitely over," said one team insider of Redskins owner Dan Snyder and Zorn. Zorn was given a modest contract by NFL standards as insiders questioned whether Washington was awaiting Cowher's possible return in 2009. Indeed, Cowher recently told The Washington Times that Snyder tried to lure him from retirement before hiring Zorn despite the owner's earlier denial. (Washington Examiner)

Would Cowher be crazy enough to sign up with Dan Snyder??

:wtf:

1. I've always thought that could happen.
Snyder strikes me as a less-smart Mark Cuban, with a bit of Hank Steinbrenner mixed in. He wants to win, but he doesn't have the necessary patience to see a plan through.

As far as Cowher goes, sure. I'd try it if I was Snyder, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if this was the plan all along.

2. I would have suggested Carolina, since that is where he is from.
But with the way Carolina is doing this year, I don't see the Panthers getting rid of John Fox.

OTOH, how about the Cowboys. Wade Phillips has not done much to motivate the troops this, and I am not sure Jason Garrett is ready, though that seems to be who JJ is planning on hiring either this year or next year. I think Cowher would be a good fit in Dallas, and would have the building blocks of a strong team already in place.

3. Carolina was speculated even before he left Pittsburgh
when he built that house down there (fwiw, his wife's from NC, not him) but I agree I don't think the Panthers will get rid of Fox.

No way Dallas. Him and Jerry Jones? Not to mention TO. There's a reason Plexiglass left Pittsburgh and it wasn't just money.

I think Cleveland will do everything they can to get Cowher. That'll be fun if that happens.

4. I would love to see him in Cleveland
though I can't believe he'd really want to coach there.

8. The house he built is 180 miles from CLT.....
he ought to go to San Diego.

5. I assumed he was a seat-warmer until Cowher was ready.
I think Zorn has earned the right to stay.

12. I would not mind seeing him back in Seattle,
Too bad Jim Moran is already slated to take over next year.

9. Danny Boy needs to fire Vinny Boy and give Zorn another year to fix the mess.
Cerrato and his insane trades and draft picks have left the Skins with one of the worst pass blocking lines in football.
Not only are they bad, they're fucking old and worn out. Jason Campbell gets gang raped every time they play a decent defense. With Chris Samuels now out for the year, JC might want to take out some extra health insurance.

10. YES!!!!! It's NOT Campbell's fault AT ALL. The lines suck!
And the rookie receivers aren't pulling their oar!

11. Get the spittle shields ready
I would like to see him back in coaching. He is a lot better at that than he is at being an analyst. It will be good to see him back on the bench looking like every call was terrible and shoving faxes and spewing spittle in the refs faces.
