It's 5 days into the new year and I already have the funniest quote of the year in the sports forum.
"At least my team can recognize when it's not good enough to be in the playoffs".
Posted by cboy4 on Sun Jan-04-09 07:15 PM

I've read thousands of posts in all kinds of sports forums, but this one is the funniest ever. I gotta ask Cboy-- When did they recognize this??? pre-season? 1st game? 3rd? 6th? And----- when they recognized it---what did they do???? Tank. Put on pink panties and play like a bunch of Chics? Have a players meeting and decide they weren't good enough and just give up?

This is why I frequently say that Cboy is the gift that keeps on giving in the sports forum. From Barry Bonds to his library of Avatars for his team of the week... what would this forum be without him.

6. *snort*
Nice comback! NOT....
Like it or not, the Dolphins had a great year. As for the SB talk...thats the very definination of being a fan I like that sort of fan instead of the one that says Hey we don't belong in teh playoffs ...In fact I remember that teh fans in DC being like that when the Skins were 6-2..unrealistic maybe, but thats the fun part of being a fan....

7. No, that's the definition of being one of those idiots that calls
sports radio and says, "well at least we tried," after their team suffers a humiliating loss.

It's ridiculous. Sorry.

And listen to me being lectured by the Redskin fan .. a team even we beat. :eyes:

9. And yet, we still had a better record than you.
Edited on Tue Jan-06-09 07:11 AM by turtlensue
Actually considering what most people were saying after the LOOONG search for a new head coach at this time last year 8-8 isn't bad.
Oh and we beat Philly (twice) and the Cardinals as well which considering the games last weekend aren't exactly cheap wins...
Oh btw NFC East>>>>NFC west. If you are gonna blast the Phins for a soft schedule, I wouldn't brag about being 7-9 in one of the worst divisions in a LOOONG time....

11. Believe me, I'm not bragging about a 7-9 record.
But the record we had after Singletary took over is something to be cautiously optimistic about.

BTW, we actually should have been 8-8 .. you know, *cough-cough* the Miami game.

12. Sure well
As long as the Seahawks suck and the Rams suck and the Cardinals can't win a game out east, I'm sure there is reason to be optimistic...

8. Cboy's definition of a fan is this:
"At least my team can recognize when it's not good enough to be in the playoffs".

I guess having the attitude of being a fucking loser is also one of his definitions.

10. Sorru, but I've won 5 Super Bowls....the high standards I hold are
soooo far over your head, you need a telescope to view them.

14. This is a prime example of something I both love and hate about sports fans.
I've won 5 Super Bowls

How many have YOU won again? ;)

It cracks me up, and I do it too sometimes, referring to a team as "we" instead of "them". I think it says a lot about the psychology of sports fans.

Anyhoo, sorry to interrupt your and trumads shambolic set-to. Carry on. :P

3. No trumad, I meant my team as in 49er fans, know we're

not good enough to be in the playoffs, and don't fly off the handle like jackasses.

You know, like Dolphin fans, including one poster who was talking about not being surprised if Miami made it to the Super Bowl.

As we know, the, as you so lovingly call them, "Phins" ass-kicking is proof their 11-5 record was clearly padded with numerous wins against just God-awful teams.

They barely beat the 49ers at home for crissakes. They were just hammered statistically.

Horrible.

Watching Miami in the playoffs this year was every bit as painful as watching the winless Lions play on Thanksgiving.

Bottom line is we don't have to listen to you any more until summer camp.
