What Do the Mavericks Need
In the last few days the Dallas Mavericks have on two occasions been beaten by more than 20 points. This causes me to ask what do the Mavericks need? I have my own opinion, but I would like others to comment. First, I think the team needs a new owner. Mark Cuban does not seem to be able to make the decisions needed to build the team into a better team. It seems that Cuban has not gone out and gotten players that can really help Dirk Nowitzki when he has a bad night. Second, the team seems to need better players. Dirk Nowitzki in my opinion is a really good player, but he seems to be the only player who plays well on a fairly consistent basis. I do not know if the Mavericks or any other team can win if they have to rely on one player to win games. Maybe I am wrong, but it seems that when Dirk is off the team struggles. I think it would help it Cuban at least acquired a good center. It would also be helpful if he acquired a good shooting guard. It seems to me that if Cuban would get some real help for Dirk Nowitzki the Mavericks would be a much better team. So what do others think?

1. Mark Cuban is the Dan Snyder of the NBA.
Same issues I think.

2. Big Difference. Cuban took a periennial losing team and converted them
into winners, which is the opposite of what Snyder did to the redskins.

3. but they never quite get there.
Look at what keeps happening to them in the playoffs...with the exception of the one year in the finals..He keeps trying to buy a championship and it doesn't work. He's Dan Snyder with slightly better knowledge of his sport.

5. They have also had the misfortune of playing the LA-Laker's conference,
that requires the Lakers to be in every conference final series.

6. Nailed it in one.
Anyone could have seen, even at the time, what a disaster trading Harris for the ancient Jason Kidd would be.

7. They are too old.
They also lack depth of talent. Hell if I were them I'd gamble it all and go trade Kidd for AI.

Also Josh Howard is a huge bust.
