More than 3,000 members of Ebbsfleet United's fans' website MyFootballClub - who own the Blue Square Premier outfit - have made history by ratifying the signing of Brentford's Darius Charles.

The £25,000 fee for the 21-year-old defender was agreed by 91.6 per cent of voters, with funds secured by the £140,000 transfer of striker John Akinde to Bristol City in August.

75 per cent of Ebbsfleet is owned by over 30,000 fans worldwide after paying an annual fee of £35 last February.

They vote on all key decisions, including team selection and player transfers, and opted to secure Charles, who has had two previous loan spells with the club last year.
