4. Probably. I hate religion as much or more than the next guy...
But that's not anything remotely close to a reason to keep him out.

There's a long-ish list of people who need to be in there before him, though.

6. I voted yes.
It's a toss-up though. I think the (non-personal) reasons to vote no are definitely fair criticisms.

7. O.J. Simpson killed two people
And he's in the HoF. Deservedly so for what he did on the football field. But I'm not sure if Warner is HoF worthy yet. He is a great story, and the hell with you who hate him because of his religious beliefs. He walks the walk, as well as talking the talk. But he came along when passing became the norm. And he was a bench warmer for a few years even after his success with the Rams. If Warner can have a big statistical year next season, then yes, he should be a Hall of Famer. Otherwise, he's a maybe.

8. C'mon Bluz, you're being a bit unfair.
There is no next season. He's deserved it on what he has done. Religion aside. No question. Remember, he came from nowhere. He didn't even start at UNI.

9. I'm pretty sure I said I don't care about his religion
I did say that he hasn't that many great seasons. But Joe Namath is in the Hall of Fame and Warner has certainly put up better numbers than Namath ever did. I also said that Warner came along during the era of pass all the time, so the stats may be a bit skewed. One more season of putting up numbers like he has and he will make it, imo.

11. Probably
In about ten years. He has done some good things. It is likely that the Cardinals would not have made it without him. But he ain't going in immediately. I will say that his religion will probably help him get elected. Voters for the HoF like that sort of thing I think.

17. Passing has been the norm since they clamped down on DBs in 1978
Despite what the Maddens of the world like to say, having a good passing game is critical to winning in football, and has been for thirty years with few exceptions.

12. Yes
The list of QB's that have lead their teams to 3 Super Bowls is exclusive. So is the list of 2-time MVP's. Even though they lost 2 with Warner, it's hard to say that should keep him out. If the likes of Warren Moon can get in the Hall, then Warner deserves to be there too. The only mark against him is that he hasn't played as many games as a lot of passers that have been inducted.

13. He's borderline right now.
When he's had weapons he been phenomenal, when he had nothing after he left the Rams he didn't win any games on his own or elevate the players around him, he was dreadful. Now he has serious weapons again and he went to another Super Bowl. He has a ring and 3 appearances in the big game but he also had a shit middle career. If he comes back next year and takes the Cards deep again it will help a lot toward his candidacy.

15. In Fairness
The Rams line went downhill on him. Hard to be a good quarterback when you have a linebacker in your face after 1 second on every snap.

At this point though I agree he's borderline, and if he comes back again next year (and especially if he wins it) then he's on more solid ground.

They let in Jim Kelly though and he never won the big game, so there's that going for Warner.

33. Good point
For Warner, having a good O line has always been more important than having great receivers. Warner has always been able to put the ball in the right place on those slants (which the Rams admittedly stole from the 49ers, but, hey, if it works, you use it). But he needs protection. Without that he turns into a fumbling fool. And even thouigh I think Warner's a great performer, in no way do I think he is in Brett Favre's league.

not saying he's not a top player, but the guy has been surrounded by amazing talent when he's won.

23. Having great WRs doesn't matter if you can't get them the ball
See: Brooks, Aaron in Oakland with Randy Moss and Jerry Porter. Moss might have given up but it was mostly because nobody was getting him the ball.

29. The converse is also true
If your receivers suck, then even a great quarterback will look mediocre.

19. Where did all this talk about Warner's HOF-worthiness come from?
He's always seemed very workmanlike in his role. At that level, everyone's going to have flashes of brilliance, but nothing about Kurt Warner's career makes me sit up and say that he belongs in the HOF.

20. Everytime a QB appears in multiple SB's we have this discussion
Which I'm not sure the amount of SB appearances/wins is a good standard to go by.
Because Marino is no doubt a HOF but he only went to the SB once and never won it.

But HE's in the HOF, too.

No one has ever been to four straight SB's before. That in itself is quite an accomplishment.

21. I voted not sure,
granted he played real well last nite as well as in his previous SB's.

But the HOF should be for an entire career. His time with the Giants and some of his earlier play with Arizona hasn't always been stellar.

He may get in and if he does, congrats to him. I won't be going around screaming that he doesn't belong. But I would have a problem if he's a first ballot inductee. That I don't think.

22. The argument will go something like this:
Fewer MVPs than Favre, but multiple MVPs nonetheless.
Same number of championships as Favre.
More SB appearances than Favre.
Favre took the recently sucky-ass but now really good Packers to the SB.
Warner took the recently sucky-ass but now really good Rams to the SB.
Warner took the recently sucky-ass but now really good Cards to the SB.

if Dyson had longer arms, it'd be 0-3.

A definite maybe.

25. In the Super Bowl Passing Yardage stats
he ranks first, second and third. Although I agree, a definite maybe. Benson and piyush are still fucking around with the long term agreement for the Saints, meanwhile the clock keeps ticking on the 2013 Super Bowl Bid. And Ray-Ray has put a big crimp into the super duper clean up service in the french quarter, three weeks before Mardi Gras.

26. Going by yardage stats, Timmy Chang should've won a Heisman or two
Most of you are probably asking "Who?!"

All he did was break Ty Detmer's NCAA passing yards record -- at Hawai'i, where they literally chuck it up on practically every down; the closest thing to a "running game" is a shovel pass.

And in the SB against the Pats, all those yards added up to fourteen lousy points, seven of those courtesy of an untimely call against Pats LB Willie McGinest.

32. Apples and oranges.
The pass defenses that make it to the Super Bowl are of a bit higher caliber than the San Jose States and Louisiana Techs of the world.

28. I would say yes given his super bowl passing records.
Some guys don't always play on championship teams. He had some bad years between his good years. He's a borderline case for the HOF.
