1. Did the Penguins Move?
Or did they just get stinky?

2. We have been supplying the NHL with talent since the mid-90's

8. It's true
but whose fault is it?

Baldwin. The Penguins. They're the ones who really started inflating salaries in the early and mid 90's and then they couldn't keep up with it on top of all the mismanagement that went on, not to mention the worst arena deal in pro sports.

Still there are plenty of other teams who have been shipping out talent. With the Pens though it's really been bad the past couple years, but what about this so-called-season? We brought Recchi back? You wouldn't call that a positive trend?

being cancelled....

Tampa Bay Lightning -- Stanley Cup champs two years in a row.

4. Am i guessing you weren't happy with the Jagr trade?
Edited on Wed Feb-16-05 10:36 AM by Oreo
Or the Kovalev trade? Or Straka?

God I'd love to talk NHL hockey again... only 30 minutes left until the end

From Fan590 in Toronto:
NHLPA: Nothing further

Sportsnet has learned the league will come off their hard stance of $42.5 million but will not accept the union's latest offer of $49 million.

NEW YORK (CP) -- The NHL season will be cancelled Wednesday unless the league and the NHL Players' Association can find a way to bridge a $6.5-million US gap in their salary cap proposals.

9. Jagr? I was happy he was gone.
The guy has a serious attitude problem and I just got sick of it. I still think he's a great player, but his off ice problems and attitude were just too much for me. I didn't like what they got for him, and it's looking like a bust, but we couldn't afford him for all his bitching.

Straka and Kovalev though upset me, as did Lang. The KLS line in 2001 was the best second line in the NHL.

Lemieux - Hrdina - Jagr
Kovalev - Straka - Lang

Talk about a top two lines you would never turn away.

All gone now aside from Lemieux, who won't be around all that much longer.

5. The only nice thing about no hockey this year...
Is seeing the Bruins get eliminated in the first round as they usually have been for the past several years; Bobby Orr, Phil Esposito, Gerry Cheevers, where have you all gone?:(

6. I guess you haven't "brought in the right players."
As opposed to drafting and developing them and then seeing them sign with New York and Washington.

7. You should have gone to some games last year
The Pens looked great in the last quarter of the season. One of the best teams in the NHL over that, and had the best power play in the league for the second half of the season. The only reason they still finished last was just how BAD they were to start before they started to gell under Eddie O.'s new schema. Also as far as no hockey since 93 which I'm assuming you mean the heartbreaking loss to the islanders, what about 95? Finals then. What about 2001 with Mario's return? A team with Mario, Jagr, Straka, Kovalev, et al...that wasn't good enough for you?

Also I don't think that many people are complaining that their teams can't buy talent anymore. Maybe some from Detroit and Toronto but I don't think they're primarily complaining because of that fact. Like most of us they just want hockey.
