Daley: Feds ignore guns, drugs for Bonds, Vick
I disagree about Michael Vick. He deserved time because he was charged with and pleaded guilty to an actual serious crime.

February 24, 2009

BY FRAN SPIELMAN City Hall Reporter

Mayor Daley on Tuesday questioned the priorities of a federal government that has indicted Barry Bonds and convicted Michael Vick but done what he described as too little to stop drug and gun trafficking that’s killing the nation’s young people.

“Michael Vick on dog-fighting. Think of that. There’s only one case in the history of the country of a federal crime dog-fighting. We get dog-fighting cases all the time. They have to go to 26th Street,” Daley said of the case involving the imprisoned Atlanta Falcons quarterback.

Questioning Vick’s five-year sentence, Daley said, “They could have fined him five, 10, 15, 20 million dollars. That would have been better. And put the money into good causes. It serves a purpose ? What? One person out of a thousand cases-a-year? He’s the only one.”

Daley then turned his attention to Bonds, the disgraced home run king who was indicted in November, 2007 on perjury and obstruction of justice charges tied to the steroids scandal that still hovers over Major League Baseball.

“There won’t be any athletes today. We’re after Barry Bonds for steroids. For what? You go after the distributor — the person that sale. Why Barry Bonds? I can’t understand. We’re spending millions of dollars on this,” the mayor said.

“To go after Barry Bonds in this day and age with priorities — I just wonder why,” he said.

1. Sorry Mayor Daley---but you're falling for the meme of the "Dumb Motherfucker" cult.
They're going after Bond's because he lied to a Federal Grand Jury.

If Barry would have simply admitted that he juiced like a wild man----ain't nobody would be after his bloated head.

2. And you're too ridiculous to concede that the United States
Government has more important things to do than target a single player and waste millions of tax payer dollars on a purported offense that is practiced by hundreds of baseball players **and** hundreds and hundreds of athletes in other sports.

Typical response from the idiotic Bonds hater cult.

You must have been asleep during Obama's speech Tuesday night when he talked about the long list of critically important issues the country needs to focus on.

3. There's the other meme form the "Dumb Motherfuckers" cult.
Too many important issues in this country so we shouldn't go after folks who lie to a Grand Jury.

Oh---and you gotta love the phrase "purported offense"---- which is right out of the Dumb Motherfuckers" cult playbook.

4. But he didn't lie to the grand jury.....You'll learn this once Bonds
is acquitted and the federal judge screams at the prosecution for making a mockery of the justice system.

What's funny is it's not just me saying all of this.

I'm posted a writer who said this.

I just posted the mayor of a major American city who said this.

But you refuse to believe it because you're a notorious and dishonorable cherry picker of facts.

5. Daley also said that they should have just fined Vick for the Dog Fighting ...
and not put him in jail----Do you agree with that statement?

6. Why don't you read what I wrote....it was the first line of my
response.

I said I don't agree with him about Vick.

But one comment I disagree with doesn't nullify his entire statement, especially the one related to Bonds.

Does it cherry picker?

7. Sure it does---because it goes with what he is trying to say---
He's using both Vick and Bonds to make a point.....a point that is pure bullshit...

The guy you are quoting thinks that murdering dogs for sport deserves a slap on the wrist with no jail time.

His credibility is called into question from that alone.

You should screen those you quote---much better.

9. Nah---I heard you're too busy pinning Upton in a corner.
Siding with Daley--- a guy who thinks murdering dogs deserves a slap on the wrist...

Shame on you.

10. Bonds deserves the same amount of sympathy
Martha Stewart got for the same damn thing. Funny I don't hear you screaming about the injustice of THAT case which is basically the same thing. She would have gotten a slap on the wrist if she had just been truthful with the investigators. But she doesn't have a big head, she's white and therefore unsympathetic right?

11. Obviously Daley is correct about Bonds
they're going after Barry because this has been nothing short of a witch hunt.

It looks like more and more people are coming out and questioning the wisdom of persecuting Bonds.

13. I disagree with him on Vick
but he's right about Bonds. Like I said previously, more and more people are seeing this for what it really is...a witch hunt of the highest order. You Bonds haters must be starting to sweat.

14. Of course you'll say he right on Bonds----
because you're a proud member of the "Dumb Motherfucker" cult.

Daley's point is about both Vick and Bond's, that's why he's a moran.

15. Yes and you're a member of the Bonds haters
all of whom are illogical, hysterical and just plain wrong the majority of the time.

What are you going to say when Barry is found not guilty of perjury?

How do you justify the intimidation of Greg Anderson's family?

Why do you seemingly care more about Bonds alleged use than the juicing by any of the other players?

16. I'm going to say that I don't give a fuck if he's found not guilty
Just like I've always said I don't give a fuck.

I hate cheaters---- I hate Clemons--- I hate McGuire--- I hate Palmero--- I hate A-Rod.

But let me clarify that--- I don't hate these guy's personally---- I hate that they took a substance that helped them achieve records, glory, etc.

What I do hate are "Dumb Motherfuckers" who have no problem cheaters.

18. Which one of these stages are you dealing with trumad?
Suuuuuure you don't give a fuck if he's found guilty.

trumad----> 1. Denial:
* Example - "I feel fine."; "This can't be happening, not to me!"

2. Anger:
* Example - "Why me? It's not fair!" "How can this happen to me!" "Who is to blame?"

3. Bargaining:
* Example - "Just let me live to see my children graduate."; "I'll do anything for a few more years." I will give my life savings if..."'

4. Depression:
* Example - "I'm so sad, why bother with anything?"; "I'm going to die . . . What's the point?" "I miss my loved one, why go on?"

5. Acceptance:
* Example - "It's going to be okay."; "I can handle it with change"; "I can't fight it, I may as well prepare for it."

19. The OJ example is the equivalent of Godwin's Law.
You know, the lazy comparison used to try to derail any issue you disagree with because you've completely run out of factual ammunition!

"As a Usenet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one..."

YUP!

They need to come up with something about OJ.

Godwin's Law (also known as Godwin's Rule of Nazi Analogies)<1> is an adage formulated by Mike Godwin in 1990. The law states: "As a Usenet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one."<2><3>

Godwin's Law is often cited in online discussions as a deterrent against the use of arguments in the reductio ad Hitlerum form.

The rule does not make any statement about whether any particular reference or comparison to Adolf Hitler or the Nazis might be appropriate, but only asserts that one arising is increasingly probable. It is precisely because such a comparison or reference may sometimes be appropriate, Godwin has argued<4> that overuse of Nazi and Hitler comparisons should be avoided, because it robs the valid comparisons of their impact. Although in one of its early forms Godwin's Law referred specifically to Usenet newsgroup discussions,<5> the law is now applied to any threaded online discussion: electronic mailing lists, message boards, chat rooms, and more recently blog comment threads and wiki talk pages.

21. Another Convenience
You two don't really understand how lazy that is, do you?

You agree with people who support your limited positions, but when it comes to something that you actually can't support, that person no longer has a valid POV>

That's so convenient that it CANNOT be taken seriously.

Learn a new song, will you?

20. Daley is a worthless fucking tool...
...get a clue you ignorant SOS, MAYBE they didn't fine Vick millions, because MAYBE the law doesn't allow for that kind of penalty. I know you're from Chicago and honesty and morals don't matter, but maybe it will send a sign that lying and perjuring yourself are a big deal and even arrogant bastards like Bonds do deserve to go to jail FOR BREAKING THE LAW.
